Chapter 215: Who Told You Not To Read The Documents?

“Eighteen ability users—ten with obvious physical deformities, seventeen reduced to limbless torsos, and one whose head was crushed by a punch with at least 25 tons of force, killing him instantly.”

Ninja: “Suicide. Case closed, let’s clock out.”

    Junior cop: “…?”

Is there any hope left for Fanzui City?

The Ninja lazily glanced at Mi Xiaoliu, who was still in her newbie combat suit, squatting beside the limbless bodies.

Aside from the leader, none of them had made her too uncomfortable, but she still felt a little uneasy inside.

Only Sasha knew—her master had once been just like them…

Looking at a man who, despite his agonized groans, still glared at her with hatred, Mi Xiaoliu took out a band-aid and stuck it over the bandages covering his severed limbs.

The book said that if you’re hurt, just put on a band-aid.

But pressing it against his wounds only made him suffer more.

He had already stopped feeling pain due to the severity of his injuries.

The man stared blankly at Mi Xiaoliu—that cute, unfamiliar face.

Could a child like this really be the Sixth Fractal, responsible for executions?

The Ninja lifted Mi Xiaoliu and placed her next to Okulet’s hand, preventing her from interfering as his clones helped bandage the wounded.

“A multi-ability user with five powers? Aside from the White Whale Trap, this is the first time I’ve seen someone with so many. Any traces of Black Element on them?”

“Nope. Now that you mention it, it is weird. Even the weakest among them had at least two abilities…”

Multi-ability users were actually quite rare.

“What the hell kind of capture is this? Kinda terrifying.” Charuk, standing on a rooftop, gave his assessment.

He hadn’t actually planned to swoop in for the spoils—those guys didn’t know who the Little Demon King was, but he did.

He was just here to confirm the casualties.

Based on the performance of Mi Xiaoliu and the others, they had already reached his personal threshold for “somewhat dangerous.”

“Capturing her was never your mission to begin with. I think a more suitable task for you would be assassinating the Little Demon King. Use your ability to isolate his sixth sense first, wait about two minutes, then cut off his other senses. Remember—no less than two minutes, or he might detect you before his intuition is fully blocked.”

There was a contradiction in Charuk’s six-sense suppression ability—specifically, concerning the sixth sense.

Would someone with premonition sense the suppression before it happened?

The answer was yes. This had been tested back when Charuk’s ability first evolved to suppress sixth senses. At the time, he wasn’t with Easter—Night Hawk had plenty of precogs willing to test his ability for the right price.

Similarly, they had also tested it on someone like the Little Demon King, whose premonition only detected danger.

The result? Every time Charuk tried to suppress other senses, the target noticed—except when he suppressed the sixth sense alone.

Because, apparently, that wasn’t registered as a threat.

As for the two-minute window? That was an estimate based on Okulet’s ability.

This danger-sense had a peculiar trait: the greater the danger, the earlier it could be detected, and vice versa.

Charuk really didn’t want to take this job. He didn’t want to gamble on how long it’d take the Little Demon King to perceive the danger of having his five senses cut off.

If the chance of failure was over 50%, he wouldn’t accept the mission—at most, he’d send a subordinate to test the waters.

Cautious people lived longer. That’s why he was hiding in a residential building right now. As long as he stayed where civilians were present, even if only one person was around, the Feds wouldn’t dare use explosives or area-of-effect weapons.

“Honestly, I’m kinda curious—why are you guys so obsessed with capturing the former Sixth Fractal? Why not send the First Fractal? Is she also afraid of Blue Flames?”

“She’s not. But before we capture her, we want her to spit out what she stole. Knowing the First Fractal’s temperament, she wouldn’t follow orders anyway.”

    “What did she take?”

“We’ve underestimated her spatial abilities.” The man avoided a direct answer.

Oh, so we’re doing riddles now?

“Maybe she’s already given whatever it is to someone else.”

“Impossible. If that happened, we’d know immediately.”

“Then just capture her first and hypnotize her. Even if she’s immune, you could reset her memories, then send some kind, gentle beauty to coax it out of her with ‘motherly love’—”

“No. We’ve already considered every angle. She wouldn’t fall for the same trick twice.”

    Whoosh—

No gunshot—just the sound of bullets cutting through the air, followed by a sharp pain in his ear.

    What the hell was that?!

Charuk followed the bullet trajectory into the distance but saw no one.

There was a billboard far away—likely used as cover.

The billboard was outside his ability’s range. Given the extreme distance, at least five shots had been fired, yet only one grazed his ear. Maybe the shooter just had a terrible aim.

Probably not a handgun—their effective range wouldn’t reach this far.

But he hadn’t sensed any gaze. How had the shooter done it? A blind gunman?

    Charuk quickly sought cover.

Down on the street, Okulet, who was explaining the situation to the police, suddenly tensed.

Not because he heard bullets hitting walls.

But because of his premonition ability.

As long as the danger wasn’t caused by him toward others, even if he couldn’t see or didn’t know the person, he could sense it within a certain range.

Like when Wang Qi was about to approach Mi Xia earlier—Okulet hadn’t sensed danger on Mi Xiaoliu, but had instead foreseen Wang Qi about to face lethal harm.

He’d already vaguely sensed someone on the rooftop would encounter non-lethal danger. But the moment he instinctively wanted to look up and intervene, he felt that doing so might expose him to an indescribable threat.

Just looking would be dangerous. Combined with the fact that this was near Mi Xiaoliu and the other test subjects, it was hard not to think of the Night Demon.

Charuk’s ability allowed him to detect direct gazes.

“The Night Demon is in that building—top floor.”

After the warning, Okulet immediately grabbed Mi Xiaoliu and Gloria’s slender arms. “Take me far away. Don’t look back.”

Gloria shook off his hand in disgust, while Mi Xiaoliu obediently tried to pull him up for a jump.

    Cough cough.

“I—I suddenly can’t use my abilities. I need help too.” Gloria quickly feigned weakness and clung to Mi Xiaoliu’s arm.

Admittedly, Okulet’s pure physical strength couldn’t match his two daughters—even Gloria had LV2 Physical Enhancement. Yet he didn’t dare teleport on the street, lest he accidentally erase bystanders.

He left it entirely to the Feds.

Without knowing if the enemy’s ability would work on him, it was better not to charge in recklessly with his daughters.

The Night Demon’s ability could target individuals within range—but only if he knew their exact location. Alternatively, he could blanket the entire area like a domain, though he usually avoided doing so to stay unnoticed.

    Okulet knew the Ninja’s abilities.

Last time, the Ninja hadn’t expected the Night Demon to be inside. But now, with prior warning, he could use multiple clones to scout the Night Demon’s position.

The downside? The Night Demon was a sneaky bastard who liked hiding among crowds. No attaching bombs to clones, no firing rockets at his general location after scouting.

And if the ninja launched an endless siege, the Night Demon would likely retaliate with indiscriminate sensory deprivation.

That couldn’t be allowed. Ordinary people, suddenly losing all six senses without context, would go insane instantly.

This was the most inconvenient part of superpowered law enforcement—dealing with criminals while enduring online backlash from clueless civilians who criticized their protectors.

The sound of shattering glass came from behind—unclear who caused it.

    Okulet frowned. “Don’t turn around.”

Then he tried tilting his head slightly, testing if his danger-sense could pinpoint the Night Demon’s location. But after a couple of adjustments, he felt nothing.

Either looking back wouldn’t reveal the Night Demon—or…

He hesitated, then turned to Gloria. “Punch me.”

    “…What?” Gloria blinked.

    Okulet repeated himself.

Without hesitation, she drove her elbow into her father’s shoulder—hard enough to bruise.

Been wanting to do that for a while.

    Okulet’s frown deepened.

His premonition hadn’t warned him about Gloria’s strike.

Meaning his intuition had been blocked.

    ——

Behind them, Charuk was also frustrated, flying through the air on Easter-issued thrusters.

In desperation, he’d successfully blocked the Little Demon King’s intuition—or rather, he’d severed the sixth sense of everyone in range. Most people wouldn’t even notice.

He hadn’t planned to take the Little Demon King mission, but someone had forced his hand.

He’d succeeded. What if he skipped the two-minute wait and immediately cut off the Little Demon King’s other senses?

He was curious—did this paradox of premonition users truly exist?

Apparently not. That tall girl had whisked the Little Demon King out of his range almost instantly.

But with the enemy’s intuition suppressed, the initiative was back in his hands.

He maneuvered around, glancing at the billboard.

In that brief window, the shooter had already fled?

Unnoticed by him, Hayato Shigenobu had circled to the other side of the billboard on the Hermit’s instructions, evading Charuk’s line of sight.

Like the Emperor of the Qin Dynasty circling a pillar.

Abandoning the mystery shooter, Charuk banked midair, changing course.

There was no way Mi Xiaoliu’s group could avoid seeing him now.

    Charuk grinned.

Honestly, occasionally challenging stronger opponents was thrilling.

    He successfully detected Okulet’s gaze.

    The two minutes were up.

    But…

Mi Xiaoliu stood outside his range, staring straight at him.

She must have seen him—at nearly 300 meters, he couldn’t clearly see her eyes.

So why didn’t he sense her gaze?

“Oh right, Mi’s colorblind,” the voice in his earpiece added as an afterthought.

“You couldn’t have mentioned that earlier?!”

“It was in the documents I gave you. Did you not read them?”

    “……”
