Chapter 115: Englen City Royal Hotel
by WuWangChapter 115: Englen City Royal Hotel
Seeing their boss being grabbed by the collar and pulled up, the surrounding Dragon Clan bodyguards were stunned. They steeled themselves and wanted to step forward, while some hesitated and wanted to draw their guns.
Seeing this scene, the surrounding gentlemen and noblewomen gasped, nearly fainting in fright — Sir Knight Louis, do you have any idea who you are grabbing!
Archie was also scared out of his wits and quickly waved his hands to stop them — What a joke, this was a humanoid dragon who knew terrifying magic! If a real fight broke out, every single person present today would be finished!
Louis’s eyes blazed with fury.
This guy had secretly schemed against him several times. There were so many things Louis hadn’t settled with him yet, and today he actually dared to come knocking on his door looking for trouble!
And thinking of the earlier newspaper, Louis grew even angrier — now he was famous in the Wizarding World!
All the persona he had painstakingly built for so long, all the humiliation he had endured, was ruined by that one newspaper. Principal Oliver was probably even thinking now whether he was wasted being an Archmage.
This made him feel a bit like giving up completely.
“Let’s talk nicely, let’s talk nicely, Louis. Let’s go have a meal first, it’s already past five — I’ve already reserved a spot at the Solerndor Royal Hotel, with your favorite White Stone Lakeside magic lobster.” Archie rubbed his hands together, adding placatingly: “And there’s magic cat mushroom pie that Miss Helen likes, all specially shipped from the Holy Icon Tree today.”
“I don’t like lobster,” Louis’s eye twitched — this damned guy, still thinking about the endorsement deal!
But he did put Archie down.
“You’ll like it,” Archie made a money-counting gesture, hinting at the endorsement fee, then waved toward the car door, making a “please get in” gesture. “Hurry and get in the car, my good friend Louis. I also have a little gift I think you’ll like — that big guy is much more interesting than these broken cars — you must have seen it at the exhibition today, right? That’s our Warhammer of the God of War project! You’ll definitely like it! When it’s time for the Wizards’ Cup, you drive it there, you’ll absolutely be the brightest star!”
Louis’s eyes couldn’t help but light up. Goblins might like to trick people, but when it came to business deals, they were very honest.
He couldn’t help but glance up at the ‘flat-top big bulldozer’ in front of him — could it be even more colossal than this thing?
Louis waved to Kate, Helen, and the others.
Only then did Kate suddenly remember that Louis had been introduced by Kendrik. And Archie was a cousin of Barriff.
Helen also recognized this little goblin; he was one of Louis’s patients — his buttocks and that eye blinded for ten years were both cured by Louis!
Oh right, that day, Louis also pulled out seven or eight bullets from his body. Little slick-haired sir looked at himself in the mirror that day, holding those bullets, and cried for a good while — he even said his other eye hadn’t shed a tear in over a decade.
So this little slick-haired crybaby was usually so fierce. Everyone seemed afraid of him.
At this moment, many Stoggs took off their hats and bowed to make way. Kate and Helen exchanged a look, both feeling a little excited. They led the four Mages and little Yordles, curiously and excitedly passing through the crowd to the front of this big locomotive.
Several Dragon Clan bodyguards lay on the ground, or knelt on one knee, or bent over, forming a human-shaped staircase for everyone to step on and walk up.
Getting a beating, then being treated to a meal and given gifts?
The noble gentlemen and ladies watched this scene with mouths agape, suddenly realizing just who Ocris’s colleague was — forget about being a freeloader!
This was a major supporter on the same level as Earl Crowley, he was Ocris’s backer!
It seemed this backer was indeed very powerful. They wondered what background he had.
Perhaps at the Princess’s welcome banquet, their fathers should personally attend.
And who knows, it might not be Crowley but the King who ends up hosting this banquet — his daughter didn’t seem to be some obscure little Priest. The forces behind her seemed to be growing, maybe not inferior to his six-year-old son.
How many years had it been since the Princess returned? Did she know about her brother’s situation…
…
By the time everyone arrived near the Solerndor Royal Hotel, the sky had darkened.
It was quite close to the Train Station. On the way, Archie also gave orders to have Kate’s Vintage Car driven over, to make it convenient for Louis to pick up the Princess tomorrow morning.
This hotel had been around for some years; it was once the mansion of a certain Earl. Later, because his family had no sons and he wanted a distant relative to inherit the property, the royal family colluded with the court to cause trouble. The territory and title were all taken back.
After that, the manor of this conservative Earl, who had opposed building the Train Station, was developed into a new district of Englen City. The location where the Train Station was built was originally this Earl’s horse ranch.
As for this Solerndor Royal Hotel, it was his luxurious manor castle.
It could compare to Earl Crowley’s castle. It was a bit shorter, but wider.
When passing by, the entire street showed one side of the castle, looking very grand.
Often, things like film festivals were held here. Major stars and Directors also often came here for meals. Nobles and wealthy merchants from out of town or abroad often stayed here.
So, many vehicles were parked in front of this main entrance. Near a garden square inside the hotel, there was also a parking lot.
When the vehicles stopped at the entrance, many reporters were gathered there, a red carpet laid out. Many beautiful actresses and elegant male stars were walking up the steps on the red carpet.
Louis didn’t want to appear in the newspaper with girls, so he had the drivers of the motorcade go around and take another route.
“I don’t like watching movies,” Archie said to Louis, puffing on a cigar. “Because I am a legend myself.”
Louis rolled his eyes. Helen didn’t get it. But Kate and the little Yordles couldn’t help but nod in agreement repeatedly.
The famous Director Trif had once wanted to make a film about Mr. Archie, but the set was wrecked by Archie’s men — the things he did weren’t suitable for movies.
Maybe after his death, a movie would come out.
“But I like investing very much,” Archie blew out a puff of smoke and gave a slight nod of acknowledgment to Sir Bach and the others. “Mages, you should do some promoting — these three gentlemen are all true legends.”
Louis’s eyes flickered slightly, and he exchanged a look with Archie. From Archie’s cheerful expression, he understood what the little slick-haired guy meant.
Reformists.
Louis nodded without further comment. But Archie could tell Louis’s meaning; he felt relieved, knowing Louis would likely help him this time.
Maybe Louis also hoped to push the Magic Council’s bill — Archie had suspected this from the moment Louis walked into the Magic Enthusiasts Association.
Kate had previously booked a few rooms at this hotel. Archie directly upgraded them to the highest-tier suites and renewed for a year. This was to make it convenient for Louis and the Princess to stay here in the future — the Princess probably didn’t want to see her little stepmother every day, but she would need to come to Englen City often. This hotel was just right for staying.
But Archie hadn’t mentioned this yet. Later, when Louis and the Princess asked at the front desk, they would find out how thoughtful he, Archie, was.
After getting out of the car, as everyone walked from the garden toward the hotel lobby, Archie asked Louis if he preferred a livelier or quieter spot. Louis looked at Helen. He heard her inner thoughts.
“Find a spot where we can see Englen City — preferably with a little bit of liveliness nearby, but not too close.”
Archie gave the order. By the time everyone went upstairs, someone was there to guide them.
Louis and the others didn’t have to wait a minute. When they entered the bustling hall, they found that the best spot in the hall, along with many nearby seats, were empty. Some seats still had unfinished food, which the servers were hurriedly clearing away.
As for the meal, it was almost ready.
Several members of the Dragon Clan stood near that seating area. Mr. Alon was also there; it looked like he had just gotten a cast on his arm, and had one of those things around his neck to keep his spine fixed. He was tilting his head back, directing his subordinates to carry over some large photos, trophies and such near the seats. They all seemed to be things Archie wanted to show Louis.
Alon’s group must have just Apparated over.
Seeing Louis nod at him, Alon tried to nod back, but couldn’t, so he forced out a smile.
“You’re quite tough,” Louis patted Alon’s arm and said.
Alon suddenly felt his arm stop hurting. He stared wide-eyed and said, “You are a true warrior, Louis VI! You are the… the second strongest fighter I have ever seen!”
Louis, who had just been about to chat with Alon a bit, turned dark upon hearing this and directly sat down.
