Chapter 398 Why Haven’t You Gotten Lost Yet?

Wanyan Zhengyong’s eyes flickered with an uncertain light after hearing Su Rui’s words.

”Don’t harbor any resentment. I’ve said all I have to say — figure it out yourself.” Su Rui coldly dropped those words, then tossed the cigarette pack and lighter to Wanyan Zhengyong and turned to leave.

The latter actually pulled out another cigarette from the pack, put it to his lips, and lit it.

Smoke curled slowly upward. Perhaps even Wanyan Zhengyong himself couldn’t figure out at that moment what the road ahead would look like.

At some point, Tian Bingyi had made his way to Wanyan Zhengyong’s side. When he saw the gang leader smoking away by himself, he couldn’t help but be taken aback.

As far as he could remember, Wanyan Zhengyong had quit smoking many years ago.

”Boss, what do we do now?” Tian Bingyi lowered his voice and asked, “Should we still take advantage of the Ten-Year Tournament to…”

Before he could finish, Wanyan Zhengyong shook his head. “Wait for now.”

Those four words filled Tian Bingyi’s heart with boundless resignation.

Though the word “for now” was used, it unmistakably meant that the Yuanwei Gang’s century-long plan would be postponed indefinitely.

Old Tian was still somewhat unwilling to accept it — in truth, no one in this situation would be willing to simply give up. He simply couldn’t believe that Wanyan Zhengyong, a dominant leader of a generation, would abandon his bid for control of Ninghai’s underworld because of a threat from a younger man.

”Boss, if I go and capture Su Rui tonight…” Tian Bingyi lowered his voice, a sharp, icy gleam flashing through his eyes.

In his view, the solution was really quite simple — as long as Su Rui, the root of all this trouble, was eliminated, every obstacle would resolve itself.

”Don’t do that.” Wanyan Zhengyong tossed his cigarette butt into the trash and said, “Because he is Apollo.”

Wanyan Zhengyong had already assessed the situation with great clarity. Someone who could rise so rapidly in that chaotic territory was, in and of itself, already far, far superior to himself.

Su Rui walked over to the Qinglong Gang’s area, where Zhang Ziwei, dressed in a black outfit, stood up. A faint trace of concern seemed to linger on her face.

”You had a confrontation with Wanyan Zhengyong the day before yesterday?” Zhang Ziwei, ignoring the curious glances from those around them, pulled Su Rui aside to a corner and asked.

”Looks like your intelligence network is pretty sharp.”

”I’ve had the Yuanwei Gang under surveillance for a long time. I planted a few informants, but they were never able to get into the inner circle.” Zhang Ziwei brushed her long hair back, a faint look of surprise crossing her eyes. “I only found out yesterday — so it was really you who cut off Wanyan Zhengyong’s arm.”

”No, I didn’t cut it off. He did it himself.” Su Rui had no intention of taking credit for that.

Zhang Ziwei drew a quiet breath. So what her subordinates had reported was true — Su Rui really had cut off Wanyan Zhengyong’s arm.

What kind of formidable identity and power would it take to suppress the entire Yuanwei Gang? To make a titan of a generation like Wanyan Zhengyong cripple his own arm?

Looking at Zhang Ziwei’s delicate face, Su Rui found himself in a good mood. In this world full of men, Zhang Ziwei was like a beautiful crape myrtle blossom — a refreshing sight for the eyes.

The faint scent of her perfume in particular gave off a pleasant feeling.

From Su Rui’s angle, he could just catch a glimpse of fair skin below Zhang Ziwei’s collar. The corners of his mouth curved up slightly. “Nice skin.”

      ”What skin?”

Zhang Ziwei didn’t catch on at first, but when she followed Su Rui’s line of sight down to her own collar, she realized she had exposed a bit too much, and quickly covered it with her hand.

Su Rui gave a playful little smile. “Not too big, but they suit you just fine.”

”What do you mean, not too big?” The words were out of Zhang Ziwei’s mouth before she regretted them. She had never been teased like this before and had absolutely no experience dealing with it. A faint blush crept up her neck.

If any other man had teased her this way, her subordinates would have already broken his limbs without her even having to say a word. But when Su Rui said it, she felt no anger at all — just a slight awkwardness.

”Can’t you be a little more serious?” Zhang Ziwei furrowed her brow lightly.

”Life is already hard enough. Why should I be serious on top of that?”

Su Rui casually let slip a surprisingly philosophical remark, but then he spotted the Molang Gang’s group walking in through the entrance, and his tone shifted:

”Though, I actually do need to get a little serious right now.”

”What’s going on?” Zhang Ziwei followed Su Rui’s gaze and saw Yan Kaida, the young deputy leader of the Molang Gang, strolling in with a cigarette dangling from his lips, his steps unsteady and dark circles under his eyes — clearly having overexerted himself in certain activities the night before.

”Because some people don’t quite know how to listen.”

With that, Su Rui headed toward where the Molang Gang was gathered.

Zhang Ziwei’s heart tightened. She knew Su Rui was about to stir up trouble again, and she hurried after him in her high heels. At the same time, she waved her hand, and two brothers from her combat division stood up and followed her.

”Hey, I have to say, those two girls you found me last night were pretty decent. Nothing special to look at, but they had some real skills — even I had to admit I was a little outmatched.”

”Young master, with your vigor and stamina, the moment you showed off your ‘power’, weren’t those two women on their knees begging for mercy?”

”Good thing you got me those imported pills, otherwise there’s no way I could’ve kept up with those two vixens.”

Yan Kaida was chatting with his lackey beside him, his face wearing a lewd expression as he discussed some unsavory topics. Then his tone suddenly shifted, a hint of bitterness crossing his face, and he lowered his voice. “Xiao Wu, do you know any good urologists?”

”A good urologist?” Xiao Wu’s eyes filled with alarm at those words. “Young master, I had both of those women checked out beforehand — they’re clean, no diseases.”

He assumed Yan Kaida had caught some embarrassing illness and was afraid the blame would be pushed onto him, so he quickly tried to defend himself.

In truth, what he meant by “checked out beforehand” was that he himself had already “sampled” the two girls in advance — something he absolutely could not tell the young deputy leader, or the man would pull out a knife and hack him to pieces.

”That’s not what I mean.” Yan Kaida draped an arm over Xiao Wu’s shoulder, glanced around, and lowered his voice again. “I’ve noticed lately that my stream is weak and splits. I think I might have prostatitis.”

      ”Prostatitis?”

Xiao Wu immediately broke into a grin. “Young deputy leader, that’s nothing serious — all men get it. Isn’t there a saying? ‘Used to piss ten miles into the wind, now can’t help but wet your shoes downwind’ — every man goes through this after forty or fifty.”

”But I’m still young.” The young deputy leader of the Molang Gang said with great frustration. “I’m only twenty-seven!”

”Don’t worry, young deputy leader, it can be treated. I’ll go seek out the finest doctors in Ninghai right away and find you a proper treatment plan!”

”No need to look in Ninghai. If you’re going to look, go back to the northwest and look there.”

At that moment, an ice-cold voice rang out directly in front of Yan Kaida.

      ”Who’s there?”

Xiao Wu was stunned. Someone actually dared to speak so rudely in front of the young deputy leader. He was about to lash out, but then he saw Su Rui’s cold, hard expression, and his own face immediately fell.

”Young… young deputy leader… it’s him…” Xiao Wu said, trembling. His mind was flooded with images of Su Rui brutally beating the Molang Gang members the night before last.

”It’s actually you?” Yan Kaida instinctively stepped back. He too recalled Su Rui’s overwhelming display of force that night, and the dull ache in his lower back started up again.

Su Rui stood alone in the Molang Gang’s territory, looking at the hundred-plus people glaring at him, and said with a cold sneer, “I told the Molang Gang to get out of Ninghai by yesterday. From the looks of it, Yan Kaida, you didn’t pass my message along properly, did you?”

Yan Kaida took another trembling step back, then realized he was on his own turf. No matter how good Su Rui was in a fight, would he really dare to start trouble openly in a place like this?

Once he recognized that the advantage was his, Yan Kaida let out three cold laughs and straightened up. “You dare come to my turf and cause trouble? Are you tired of living?”

”I’d really like to know — who exactly is tired of living, treating my words like they mean nothing?”

By this point, Zhang Ziwei had already led her people to stand behind Su Rui with an imposing air. It was also around a hundred people — similar in number, but far superior in quality to the Molang Gang.

Was this about to break out into open warfare? Everyone turned their eyes this way, each person filled with shock and uncertainty.

With so many other gangs present, Yan Kaida knew he had nothing to fear. “So it’s the Qinglong Gang. You think just because you’ve got numbers on your side, you can bully me? Fine. I’d like to see exactly how you plan to make me leave Ninghai.”

In Yan Kaida’s eyes, Su Rui was nothing more than a Qinglong Gang enforcer — a higher-level one at most. His own identity was that of the Molang Gang’s young deputy leader. Even if Qinglong Gang leader Li Yang showed up in person, they’d be equals at best. What right did this enforcer have to bark at him?

Moreover, if the Qinglong Gang got into a conflict with the Molang Gang here, the rules of the Ten-Year Tournament would impose heavy penalties on the Qinglong Gang.

What the young deputy leader of the Molang Gang had failed to grasp, however, was this: if the Qinglong Gang truly went to war with the Molang Gang, not a single person would side with that northwestern gang — because over the years, the smooth-talking Li Yang had done an excellent job of managing the Qinglong Gang’s relationships, and on the surface at least, the leaders of many gangs considered him a friend.

”What exactly is going on here?”

At that moment, a voice carrying some authority rang out from within the Molang Gang’s area.

The speaker was a man who appeared to be in his fifties, dressed in a black summer outfit, fanning himself with a black folding fan. A black mole at the corner of his mouth was quite conspicuous, with a few curved hairs growing from it.

This was the current leader of the Molang Gang — Yan Damo.

Yan Damo walked over fanning himself, flanked by two Molang Gang elders. One of them was Elder Xia — the very one who had led the advance team only to have over a dozen of his men taken out single-handedly by Su Rui.

Seeing his father step forward, Yan Kaida let out a sigh of relief.

”Young friend, is there perhaps some misunderstanding between you and Kaida?”

Yan Damo chuckled warmly, though his smile carried a cold edge. No matter who it was, anyone who dared to make a scene on his turf was tired of living — this was a blatant slap in the face.

”Misunderstanding my ass!” Su Rui let out a cold snort. “So you’re the leader of the Molang Gang? I told your son to pass along the message — take the Molang Gang and get out of Ninghai. Did he not tell you?”

”Get out of Ninghai?” Yan Damo’s fury surged at those words. “What nerve! Does the Qinglong Gang think it can act this outrageously?”

”You think I need to be outrageous to deal with you?”

As Su Rui said this, without even looking, he reached out one hand and slapped young deputy leader Yan Kaida straight to the ground.
