Chapter 204
by Need_More_SleepChapter 204: Stealing? Open Robbery!
“Too slow! See that? Clearly too slow!”
The instructor stood excitedly six meters away, pointing at his phone’s timer.
Even Yiwen’s phone was timing, but the two timers gradually began to show a discrepancy.
The instructor was practically moved to tears. In all his years of teaching, he had almost never encountered a student as inept as Yiwen. If your foundational knowledge was lacking, he could teach you—but what was the deal with dozing off every time he explained theory?
He understood it was the middle of the night, but why were you suddenly full of energy during practical application lessons?
In his memory, the last student who gave him this much headache was Riels. Was this Riels’ daughter here to exact revenge on him?
“It’s not that much slower,” Yiwen grumbled unhappily.
She’d have to readjust her phone’s time when she got back.
“Then do you remember how it felt? How did you do it? Using yourself as a gravitational center? No, nothing was being pulled toward you…”
“I don’t know how I did it either,” Yiwen replied, frustratingly. “It felt like using something similar to gravity, while also making sure the objects weren’t affected by my own gravity?”
Back when she was rushing Mi Xiaoliu to the hospital, Yiwen hadn’t thought about any of this—she’d just wanted Mi Xiaoliu to survive.
Maybe next time she should shout, “Because we’re Fairy Tail!” and see if that magically made it work.
It was already very late. Whether it was her imagination or not, Yiwen felt like the instructor was shooing her away with even more disdain than usual.
Feeling gloomy, what made it worse was that Heli had returned today. She couldn’t sneak into Mi Xiaoliu’s bed anymore, nor could she get too close to Mi Xiaoliu in front of Heli.
Should she find a way to butter up the school doctor?
Come to think of it, did Mi Xiaoliu know that Uncle Ao might be her father? And didn’t that mean the Chairwoman who’d slapped Mi Xiaoliu last time could be…
Better focus on how to win over Heli.
Wasn’t this auntie the school doctor? Would she like a taxidermy specimen as a gift? How about a cockroach taxidermy specimen? Yiwen wasn’t sure, but most people didn’t make stuff like that, right? Rare things were valuable—that made sense, didn’t it?
Yiwen schemed darkly to herself.
On the way home, she suddenly spotted a shooting star streaking across the night sky.
At the same time, something darted back and forth between the buildings.
Yiwen was stunned. That serpentine movement was all too familiar—wasn’t that her little troublemaker?
The invincible Little Demon King had one flaw as a bodyguard, if the employer sneaked away while he was asleep, they’d leave the range of his protective instincts.
Of course, Okulet had anticipated this scenario, so he’d hung a pendant around Mi Xiaoliu’s neck—a tracker that would alert him if she wandered more than ten meters away.
But he didn’t account for the fact that Mi Xiaoliu’s new combat outfit would replace all her original gear, including the pendant.
“Take it. Don’t say I never keep my word.”
Outside KFC, Gloria handed a family bucket to Mi Xiaoliu.
A sudden attack of conscience? What nonsense—Gloria had at least a sliver of gratitude in her, okay? Consider it thanks for taking out the Red Prince.
Mi Xiaoliu hesitantly reached out but didn’t take it.
Because she hadn’t done anything for Gloria yet.
“It’s not poisoned. If you won’t eat it, I will,” Gloria rolled her eyes.
So much for good intentions.
They were very close to Gloria’s home now, and Gloria didn’t dare use her abilities to move around—her powers were far too conspicuous at night.
“This time, what I want you to steal is a jar containing my little sister’s remains. You’d better handle it carefully. If you drop it and break even a little, I’ll beat you to death, got it?” Gloria twirled her small fist threateningly.
“Mm.”
Sasha had tried to talk Mi Xiaoliu out of it all day, but she never expected Gloria to climb through Mi Xiaoliu’s window in the middle of the night and coerce her with threats and bribes.
How far did the coercion go? Just a little more, and Okulet would’ve sensed Mi Xiaoliu was in danger.
“This time is different from last time. I actually did my research on the location beforehand. That old hag actually built a basement in this house too…”
As the surroundings grew more familiar, Mi Xiaoliu turned to run.
She was starting to realize that Gloria’s home = the bad woman’s home.
Gloria quickly grabbed her: “Too late. You can’t turn back now. Don’t forget this.”
She waved her phone, which had the video of Mi Xiaoliu’s punishment.
Surprise—she hadn’t actually deleted it.
Gloria pretended to ponder.
“Do you think the old lady would be disappointed if she found out her ‘good little boy’ skipped school? Maybe she’d stop making you delicious food after this, always sighing, ‘How could my Xiaoliu do something like this?’”
Mi Xiaoliu froze, then gently tugged at Gloria’s clothes.
Pleading.
Gloria’s grin stretched almost to her ears.
The smirk of a little devil.jpg
“You can pat my head,” Mi Xiaoliu placed Gloria’s hand on top of her own head.
“Who wants to pat you? Scram.” Gloria pushed her aside.
Disgusted. Did this brat have any self-awareness?
The courtyard had several wide-range floodlights—part of the security system designed to work with Shen Qing’s abilities, ensuring any intruders would be detected the moment they stepped in.
But Gloria, who had been outsmarting Shen Qing since childhood, naturally knew all the blind spots. The lights couldn’t cover every angle, after all—the family still needed to sleep.
Sneaking like a thief, she successfully led the wolf into the house.
Nuomi (The dog) looked up.
Gloria raised a finger to her lips: “Shh.”
Nuomi lay back down, silent, wagging its tail at Mi Xiaoliu.
Even though it couldn’t smell Mi Xiaoliu’s scent in her new combat suit.
“Let’s go.” Gloria grabbed Mi Xiaoliu’s arm.
Because she noticed Mi Xiaoliu was dragging her feet.
Last time, Mi Xiaoliu had been beaten for taking something from here.
She really didn’t want to steal.
The bad woman would hit her again.
“Miss, shouldn’t we be… not disturbing your midnight rendezvous?”
“Tch.”
—————
Chairwoman’s Office.
One hand covered her eyes, while the other gently patted a cat plushie—as if soothing a young daughter—yet her body trembled slightly.
Earlier, right after obtaining the footage, she had called Heli. Heli claimed she had never participated in Misha’s experiments, insisting she hadn’t even seen Misha at Easter’s areas.
Then, the Chairwoman realized the memory card contained far more than just that one short clip.
She only dared to watch a little further.
She saw those monsters cut off Misha’s head just to test her regenerative abilities—her poor daughter, for some reason, unable to die no matter how much she suffered.
A researcher nearby joked that if they could preserve the removed organs, they could make the organization a fortune.
Wasn’t this the exact ability she had dreamed of? To bring Misha back?
These two clips didn’t even make up one percent of the full recording.
Was the rest all like this?
Misha might still be alive, but she couldn’t feel any joy.
“Ghk—!”
The Chairwoman retched, but only bitter stomach acid came up.
“Ghk—!”
It wasn’t the gore that made her sick—it was the rage, the hatred, and emotions she couldn’t even name.
Heartbroken and shattered, she couldn’t imagine what her daughter had endured all these years.
It was all her fault. She had failed as a mother.
The Chairwoman stood up, legs unsteady.
Don’t be afraid, Misha. Mom will save you soon. Dad will kill them all, every last one—
“Madam, you should rest. You have a meeting with Durian Group tomorrow,” Shen Qing said, supporting her.
“Cancel it. I can’t sleep,” the Chairwoman’s voice was hoarse.
Hesitating, Shen Qing decided to deliver the bad news.
“Madam… the young miss took the Black-Clothed One to the basement. That Black-Clothed One is almost certainly Mi Xiaoliu.”
During the Red Prince incident, Mi Xiaoliu had been accompanied by Okulet.
Shen Qing had tried to stop them discreetly, without the Chairwoman’s knowledge—but failed.
The young miss’s accomplice was that shadow-stealing Black-Clothed One. She was strong.
Two LV4s had already been knocked out—because the young miss was standing right beside her, the guards couldn’t fight freely.
Shen Qing’s precision-based abilities were hard-countered by the Black-Clothed One.
The Chairwoman finally snapped.
She swept everything off her desk.
Of all times—
There were limits to how much she could take.
——————
Gloria used a thin laser to cut through the basement door’s lock, with several unconscious bodies lying in the hallway behind her.
What’s even the point of this lock? It can’t stop the one person it’s meant to keep out.
Things had already gone way off-script. Her flawless infiltration had somehow still been detected—even though sneaking out along this route at night never caused problems before.
But since they were already here, they couldn’t just leave empty-handed, right?
“That’s the jar I told you to take. Grab it and keep it safe for a few days. Just make sure my mom doesn’t find out you’re the girl in black. I’ll contact you later to get it back. And don’t ask why I’m stealing my little sister’s hand bones—I don’t want them floating in formaldehyde like some damn specimen.”
The idea of using bones to resurrect someone? Gloria thought her mom had completely lost it.
Mi Xiaoliu didn’t move. She just stared quietly at the jar.
“Hurry up! If more people show up, we’re screwed!” Gloria urged anxiously.
Mi Xiaoliu stepped forward, still staring blankly at the skeletal hand in the jar.
The jar wasn’t big—just large enough to hold a child’s hand and part of the forearm.
It hurt.
Her chest hurts.
Mi Xiaoliu knew.
This hand… was hers.
Her head throbbed.
Memories rushed back—just fragments, but enough.
Facing reality, even the blank spaces in her mind that her brain network had sealed away surged forward.
She didn’t want to remember.
It hurt too much.
“Heli…” Mi Xiaoliu crouched down, clutching her head.
A faint blue flame flickered in her left eye.
“Move it!” Gloria glanced around nervously and gave her a light kick in the rear.
“Don’t freeze up now! My mom’s got way more than just these guards!”
Mi Xiaoliu picked up the jar, her gaze distant.
Gloria let out a relieved sigh.
Then—
Mi Xiaoliu raised the jar high—and smashed it onto the ground.
The already fragile bones inside shattered into pieces, the pungent smell of formaldehyde flooding the air—a scent as terrifying as getting a shot.
The Chairwoman walked in just in time to see it happen.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!” Both Gloria and the Chairwoman screamed in unison.
After being emotionally gutted multiple times today, the Chairwoman was on the verge of total collapse.
“You monster!”
She lunged forward—
Only for her arm to be yanked back and pulled into a firm embrace.
Okulet.
The tracker had been blocked.
But that didn’t stop him from following them from a distance.
Because he hadn’t slept at all.
After learning such heartbreaking news, of course the Chairwoman had told her husband.
But no one had been there to stop Gloria.
Gloria grabbed Mi Xiaoliu by the collar and hurled her aside.
She was furious.
Then—she froze.
In the struggle, she’d accidentally pulled off Xiaoliu’s hood.
Twin braids (Twintails).
“Wh… what are you doing?” Gloria stammered, bewildered.
“Mi… sha?” The Chairwoman’s voice cracked.
Blue fire blazed in Mi Xiaoliu’s left eye.
She picked up a shard of broken glass from the floor.
“Calm down, Misha.”
Unlike the other two, who were stunned, Okulet moved—dashing forward to stop her. Because his abilities over Mi Xiaoliu’s position had already been nullified.
Mi Xiaoliu stabbed the glass shard into her own arm.
It hurt—but not unbearably.
Then, with a single, brutal motion, she dragged the shard down the length of her forearm—
Mi Xiaoliu tore out the “false bones” inside with her bare hand.
