Volume 1 Chapter 24
by Need_More_SleepVolume 1 + Chapter 24: No Title
To make Qian Zexing fall in love with her, to place herself as the first priority in her heart, and to have her depend entirely on her.
This thought stirred a long-forgotten excitement within Nalan Xia.
In Nalan Xia’s imagination…
After a long, exhausting day, she unlocks the villa door with her fingerprint. From the hallway, a petite blonde girl, wearing nothing but a lace apron, comes running toward her.
“Sister Xia, you’re back!”
The little girl looks at her with pure joy, her delicate feet carrying her in light steps as she runs over, kneels to help her remove her shoes, and takes the items from her hands to neatly place them into the cabinet.
Then, placing her hands shyly over her chest, the blonde girl gazes at her bashfully. “Sister Xia, dinner is ready. Will you eat first… or eat me first?”
The rest of that scene… would require a paid subscription.
Snapping back to reality, Nalan Xia coughed lightly, putting on a composed front, though a faint blush crept onto her face.
Her expression softened considerably compared to before as she said to me, “Your provocation worked quite well. But even if I follow your suggestion and truly succeed in winning over Qian Zexing…”
She raised a delicate brow.
“…That still doesn’t excuse the verbal insults you just directed at me. Those must be settled.”
“After all, I’m not a devil. I’ll just have you stay over there for a month.”
She made a motion as if about to dial a number on her phone.
“W-wait, Sister Xia, let’s talk this out…” I said in a deliberately soft, cutesy tone, so sugary that even I found it unbearable.
For the sake of my dignity, acting cute is not shameful!
“We can offer you strategies, Sister Xia. The three of us have lived with Qian Zexing for a long time, we understand her best. With our support, this will definitely work!”
Although I said that confidently, inside I was panicking like crazy.
There’s no way Qian Zexing would fall head over heels for anyone. Precisely because we know her so well, we know it’s impossible.
Back when she was a guy, she was already a notorious flirt, relying on her good looks and a bit of money to charm girls everywhere, yet never maintaining anything for more than a week. A hopeless playboy.
Of course, I absolutely couldn’t let Nalan Xia know that. If she realized I was bluffing, she’d definitely kill me.
“Oh? Is that so?” Nalan Xia said, half-skeptical.
“Mm-hmm!” The boss and the fourth also nodded quickly, showing they could help as well.
“In that case, tell me one method first. Let me see whether you’re actually capable.”
Nalan Xia leaned back against the sofa, her graceful figure relaxing as her long, pale legs crossed elegantly beneath her skirt. The alluring sight was almost hypnotic.
“As for a method… I do have a very good idea,” I said, pretending to flatter her, though my thoughts were entirely different.
“Qian Zexing really loves gaming. She especially admires top-tier players and experts. If you, Sister Xia, become highly skilled at games, she’ll definitely start admiring you. At that point, pursuing her will be as easy as a fish in water.”
In my mind, however: Heh, no way. Without months of practice, there’s no chance you’d get good. Even with talent, you couldn’t surpass her. This will buy us plenty of time.
Someone as proud as Nalan Xia, once hooked, would surely pour effort into improving her skills. At the very least, we could avoid her for a while.
Perfect.
“Gaming? Esports? What kind of games does she like?” Nalan Xia asked.
“She plays a bit of everything, but lately she plays ‘League of Legends’ the most.”
That’s where she’s strongest, if we mentioned other games, she might catch up too quickly.
“And the three of us can teach you as well. We’ll make sure you improve quickly.”
I said that on purpose, I was betting that someone as arrogant as Nalan Xia would never accept our help.
And sure enough,
“You’re too weak. For better results, I’ll just hire professional players to coach me,” she replied immediately.
So this is what being rich looks like, even gaming comes with pro-level coaching.
“Alright…” I sighed, pretending to be disappointed.
Honestly, if there were an award for acting, I’d definitely win Best Actor.
But Nalan Xia wasn’t easy to fool. She smirked coldly and added, “Since this method was your idea, let’s set a deadline. One month.”
“One month!?” I exclaimed.
Unless I were Cupid himself, there’s no way I could make two completely incompatible people genuinely fall in love within that time.
“Then how long do you want? You have three seconds to answer.”
Her cold gaze locked onto me, making my mind freeze.
“3!”
“2!”
“1!”
As she counted down, panic flooded in.
“T-three months…”
“Fine. You said three months yourself. I’ll be looking forward to the ‘big promise’ you’ve drawn for me.”
She toyed with a strand of her red hair, speaking with layered meaning.
I’m done for… I’ve been completely outplayed. Nalan Xia is too sharp, I can’t beat her.
Now I can only hope three months feels like an eternity… otherwise I might as well pack up and run.
I definitely don’t want to become that kind of “special idol.”
No way, no way!
After that, I didn’t dare say another word at the table. The boss and the fourth had nothing to say either.
We sat there awkwardly. We’d already eaten at the boss’s house, so even the luxurious dishes in front of us didn’t appeal much.
Meanwhile, Nalan Xia ate calmly by herself, her expression unreadable, who knows what she was thinking.
“Finished eating? Then take a taxi back yourselves.”
She set down her fork and wiped the oil from her lips with a napkin before speaking to us.
Seriously? She drags us here for no reason and then tells us to get back on our own? Unbelievable.
Before leaving, Nalan Xia gave us her QQ contact and told us to add her. But since she found it troublesome to accept three requests, she only approved mine.
That arrogant attitude was infuriating.
Damn Nalan Xia, if we ever get the chance, the four of us are definitely getting back at her!
First this, then that… hmph!
After discussing briefly on the street, we headed back toward school.
Once we arrived…
The fourth said she was still scared and wanted to go to the library to calm herself down.
She even invited me and the boss along.
Of course we refused. We were already traumatized, going to the library would only make it worse.
So the boss and I returned to the dorm.
The moment we got back, she rushed to the computer, logged into Qian Zexing’s “League of Legends” account. We all shared passwords anyway.
“It’s all that weird loli from Friday’s game that caused this mess. Let’s see if she replies, she better fix everything!”
Though her avatar was still greyed out, to our surprise, she had left us a message.
Holding our breath, the boss’s hand trembled slightly as she clicked on the chat.
【You have desecrated the dignity of a god. Do not think this matter will end here. Hmph!】
Such Chuunibyou nonsense… I’m starting to think this “loli god” is deep into anime culture.
“Ahhh! It’s just a game, what dignity did we desecrate? Can’t even handle losing?” The boss clutched her head in despair, utterly fed up with the world.
Running into bad players in games is one thing, but this one was bad and arrogant, demanding duels and interaction. If she can’t win, she should just practice more!
Instead, she got petty… and cursed us.
The boss couldn’t take it anymore and rapidly typed out a furious reply.
Looks like she’s about to unleash her full “keyboard warrior” power.
I quickly stepped in and stopped her from hitting Enter.
“Boss, calm down! If we anger her again, we might really never turn back!”
“No! Today I’m going to flame her so hard she regrets being born!”
Left with no choice, I grabbed her hand with all my strength to stop her from pressing the key.
