Shuo Shuo’s cooking skills were truly impressive, she managed to prepare a wide array of dishes in less than an hour.
As we looked at the table filled with fragrant, mouthwatering food, we couldn’t help but swallow in anticipation.
After our eldest took the first bite, the rest of us followed, beginning to eat one after another.
Mm… delicious. After just one meal, the school cafeteria suddenly felt unbearably lacking by comparison. I couldn’t help but envy Shuo Yan for having such a talented little sister, if it were me, I probably wouldn’t even bother staying in the dorms anymore. Wouldn’t living at home be so much better?
It was just too good. It had been a long time since eating had brought me such a genuine sense of happiness.
“Xiao Shuo, do you want to switch sisters? Come be my little sister instead, I can give you lots of allowance and buy you anything you want.”
While devouring the food, I tried to tempt Shuo Shuo.
“Hehe~ sure! Yu Li-jie, you’re welcome to come over anytime.”
“Hehe, I’ve gained another adorable little sister, this is so satisfying!”
“Hey now, our Xiao Shuo is pretty, top of her class, excellent at housework, and gentle and considerate, truly one in a million. But Second, don’t you dare entertain any strange ideas.”
Shuo Yan narrowed her eyes and issued a warning. Her precious little sister was not to be “taken away”, even if it was by another “cabbage,” it still wouldn’t be allowed.
That said, with her slightly bared canine teeth and mock-threatening posture, she looked more cute than intimidating, hardly frightening at all.
“Got it, got it. So scary, Boss.”
Even though I found her adorable inside, I still played along verbally, after all, it wouldn’t be good if she actually got mad.
“Hmph!”
After a while, we completely wiped out lunch, there wasn’t even a scrap left.
After the meal, Shuo Yan explained the situation to Shuo Shuo, that this blonde little girl wanted to stay at their house for a while.
Since there were several empty rooms at home anyway, and because Qian Zexing looked as adorable as a doll, Shuo Shuo happily agreed, saying she would take good care of her.
After helping Qian Zexing move into her new room and finishing up everything else, we set off back to school.
Along the way, Su Guo seemed a bit absent-minded, she almost stepped into a puddle by the roadside. Fortunately, our eldest pulled her back in time, or her clothes would’ve been soaked.
“Xiao Guo, what’s wrong? You seem like you’ve got something on your mind,” Shuo Yan asked with concern.
“N-no…” Su Guo waved her hands nervously, then after a moment of thought said, “I was just thinking, if Nalan Xia can’t find Qian Zexing, will she just wait outside our dorm… until we walk right into her trap?”
“Hmm… let’s just go back and see.”
After several dozen minutes, we finally returned to the dorm building.
At the stairway corner, Shuo Yan, who was leading the way, suddenly raised her hand to stop us, signaling for us not to step out yet.
“What’s wrong?” ×2
We looked at her in confusion.
“Shh! Just like Fourth guessed, Nalan Xia is actually waiting at our dorm.”
I followed Shuo Yan’s lead, peeking out cautiously from behind the corner.
What I saw was a red-haired, curvaceous woman directing several men, who looked like bodyguards, to kick open our dorm door.
Kick it open…
Hey! That’s our dorm door! Are you not going to pay for that damage!? The dorm supervisor is going to scold us to death!
Before I could even shout at her, our eldest had already rushed out in a fury.
“Nalan Xia! We haven’t even settled the score for you bullying Third, and now you’ve smashed our dorm door. What’s wrong with you?!”
Oh no, Boss just threw a straight punch right out of the gate. The three of us can’t beat Nalan Xia, let alone with those bodyguards she brought along.
Even though we were scared, we still stepped forward to stand beside her and face Nalan Xia.
“Oh? You’ve got the nerve to talk to me like that, you’re quite bold. I’ll pay for the door. But you’d better hand over Qian Zexing.”
Nalan Xia crossed her arms over her ample chest, a cold smirk appearing on her striking face.
“And what if we don’t? I’m telling you, you’ll never find her!”
The Boss’s unyielding stance made me a little nervous, we really couldn’t win this fight. Was it really okay to be this confrontational?
“Then don’t blame me for being rude. Take them away!”
Nalan Xia waved her hand, giving orders to the men behind her.
Being small and physically weak, we were no match for them, we were effortlessly lifted off the ground.
“Let go! Do you know this is a crime? I’ll sue you!”
“Hey, careful, you’re hurting my arm!”
“Wah…”
After capturing us, Nalan Xia had her bodyguards take us out of the school.
At the school gate was a sleek red sports car that looked incredibly expensive. She shoved the three of us into the back seat, while she herself sat in the front passenger seat.
She rolled down the window and waved, seemingly signaling the others to withdraw.
Soon, only the driver, Nalan Xia, and the three of us remained in the car.
As the engine started, the car carried us off toward an unknown destination.
The entire ride was silent.
Just like that, with unease and apprehension, we were… taken into a high-end restaurant?
We stared at Nalan Xia, who sat calmly across the table, our small heads filled with big question marks.
We had expected that, given her methods, once angered she would deal with us brutally.
But instead, she was treating us to a meal.
At the dining table.
“What exactly do you want? Don’t think you can buy us off with something like this, we won’t let you take Qian Zexing.”
Though cautious, Shuo Yan spoke bluntly.
“Hah! What right do the three of you have to interfere in our affairs? She is my fiancée.”
Nalan Xia’s cold, arrogant gaze made our backs run cold.
“Qian Zexing doesn’t like you at all, she might even hate you. You can’t force her. A marriage like that is meaningless!”
Shuo Yan slammed the table and stood up, speaking with conviction.
“She must be mine. Anyone I, Nalan Xia, set my eyes on, has never escaped me.”
Her overbearing attitude made me furious as well.
Suppressing my anger, I said in a low voice, “If you truly care about her, then give her happiness properly, not trap her for life in a cage you’ve built.”
