Chapter 1 Chapter 141
by Need_More_SleepVolume 1 + Chapter 141: Taming
“What are you looking at?”
Leah spoke in a low, sharp voice. Facing Andai’s unwavering gaze, she clearly felt a flicker of displeasure.
She cast a sidelong glance at Andai, her eyes carrying a trace of impatience, signaling for her to immediately put away that unrestrained stare. But Andai continued to hold her gaze, unyielding. Leah’s irritation grew, and an instinctive wave of aversion welled up inside her.
After about two or three minutes, Leah finally couldn’t hold it in any longer. She let out a long, quiet sigh and gently set down Eve’s coat in her hands. It was clear that she had used that coat to dispel a day’s worth of fatigue and irritability.
“Still staring!”
Her voice was low as she repeated the words, her eyes narrowing slightly, carrying a hint of threat. “Don’t tell Mama about this, understand? Otherwise, I might have to saw off your dragon horn and make a brand-new pair of chopsticks for Mama.”
A faint, cunning smile played across her lips, her tone mixing playful teasing with a measure of seriousness and coldness, enough to inspire fear.
Hearing Leah’s words, Andai’s heart skipped a beat, her whole body stiffening, even her breath caught in hesitation.
It felt as if a heavy weight pressed down on her chest, making her curl up tightly.
If anyone else had threatened her like this, Andai might have laughed it off, perhaps even found it amusing. But facing Leah, she lacked the courage to take it lightly.
She knew all too well just how ruthless Leah could be—any action was possible without hesitation. She was genuinely afraid.
“Y-yes… I understand.”
Andai’s voice was unusually low, trembling slightly. She didn’t even fully understand why this household always felt so strange to her, why an invisible pressure seemed to linger in every corner, as if the very air was saturated with secrets no one dared speak of.
Her gaze wandered to the corner of the sofa and noticed a small white stocking carelessly draped and spread in disorder.
A subtle, lingering scent filled the air—faint, yet unusually sweet.
Upon closer inspection, Andai immediately realized that it was neither Leah’s nor Eve’s. This scent belonged to another girl—a girl whose aroma was strikingly fragrant.
The atmosphere of this household made her feel increasingly mysterious and strange…
Because that girl carried another, very distinct sweet scent as well…
The dragon race possessed keen olfactory senses, capable of detecting many smells imperceptible to human noses.
This included the scents tied to human emotions. When emotions shift, subtle changes occur—in aura, expression, and even scent.
Dragons could perceive these changes.
Just like the messy stocking before her, it carried distinct traces of scent. In dragon terms, it could be described as… the smell of arousal.
Who was this little white stocking’s owner aroused by?
Combined with Leah’s epic-level handling of Eve’s coat earlier, Andai had reason to suspect that she had wandered into a place she shouldn’t have.
“Leah? Finish up, it’s time to eat.”
Eve’s soft voice called out, tinged with warmth. She carried the last dish, its aroma filling the dining room instantly, spreading a comforting wave that immediately drew Leah’s attention.
Leah, having run around all day, was already famished. Her gaze locked onto the food without hesitation, and she strode directly to the dining table, claiming a seat immediately.
Ignoring Andai’s gradually changing expression, Leah couldn’t wait to start eating.
“Go wash your hands.”
Eve smiled as she arranged three sets of tableware and looked at Andai, who still stood at the doorway, appearing bewildered and unsure. Her voice was gentle yet carried an unmistakable undertone of authority.
“Come on, it’s time to eat. What’s wrong? Not hungry? Or is human food not to your taste?”
A faint smile touched her lips, playful yet showing subtle concern.
Instinctively, Andai shook her head. She intended to say she wasn’t hungry, but the rumbling of her stomach betrayed her.
In the quiet, empty room, the sound of a dragon’s growling stomach was unusually loud.
Andai couldn’t help but blush in embarrassment.
“Just have a little, please. Regarding my daughter’s behavior, I apologize to you.”
Eve’s voice was low and soft, filled with a trace of genuine apology. She gently guided Andai to the table, her warm presence easing the young dragon’s unease.
Those tender words and her kindly tone left Andai feeling momentarily dazed. The complex emotions she had felt began to dissipate.
“She just graduated from the academy, full of youthful energy, so she likes to do a few over-the-top things… Don’t take it to heart.”
Eve’s words contained no reproach—only understanding and tolerance. Andai felt herself relax slightly, her mood softening under Eve’s comfort.
Listening to such gentle words, Andai felt somewhat dazed, and without realizing it, she followed Eve to the dining table.
On the table, a dazzling array of dishes released irresistible aromas: braised pork, Kung Pao chicken, boiled sliced meat… The sight of food she had never seen before immediately whetted her appetite, and her rumbling stomach made her swallow nervously.
Seeing such a feast, her craving quietly stirred.
“I’m not sure if these dishes suit your taste, but try them. You won’t find these anywhere else,” Eve said, placing a glossy piece of braised pork in front of Andai.
Andai’s hands clenched the fork tightly, hesitation written across her face. Her gaze lingered on the piece of pork, as if it were an invisible bait.
Taking a deep breath, she couldn’t resist the temptation of the food any longer and slowly brought the braised pork to her mouth.
Instantly, an explosion of rich flavor burst on her tongue—the pork was fatty without being greasy, lean without being dry, with delicate, silky texture that widened her eyes in amazement, almost making her forget everything around her.
She instinctively chewed a few times, feeling her taste buds ignite. A rational voice whispered in her mind: “You can’t eat any more! Absolutely stop! Or… you’ll be tamed by humans!”
Yet her hand trembled slightly, still unconsciously bringing the fork to her mouth.
At that moment, she could barely suppress the desire swelling within her, as if all reason were being devoured by the deliciousness, slowly succumbing to the taming power of human food.
Just then, Eve deftly placed another piece of braised pork in front of her, her gentle eyes carrying subtle concern. Andai realized instantly that this wasn’t just a piece of pork—it was the beginning of a path from which she could never return.
