Volume 1 Chapter 18
by Need_More_SleepVolume 1 + Chapter 18: Neighbors
“That’s… Leah, right?”
“Should be? Why would she come to a place like this? And who’s that gentle woman holding her hand?”
“That white-haired sister? I noticed her too, she’s so elegant. Those beautiful melancholic eyes like ice crystals must hold many stories, right?”
“Your drool, it’s about to drip on me.”
…
“This should be the right room, right?”
Eve looked up at the gold-trimmed room number. Even the room number plate was detailed to perfection, and the decorative material seemed to be made of pure gold.
Eve couldn’t help but swallow. This was far from a small room, just this decorative plate alone could probably rent a small yard in the suburbs for a year or two.
“Is it really okay for us to live in a place like this?”
Leah asked cautiously. After all, she had been living in the academy dormitory before.
Although the dormitory environment was quite nice, Leah always felt she didn’t belong there. Even when sleeping on her small bed at night, she felt uneasy, always being extremely careful not to disturb her dormitory classmates.
Listening to them chat about the latest trendy dresses and accessories, the best cosmetics and street-side tea cakes, Leah only felt distant.
So except for sleeping hours, Leah tried to avoid returning to the dormitory as much as possible. If you asked where she spent most of her time, it would probably be the classroom and library.
Everyone thought Leah was unsociable, but actually, she was just insecure and too shy to approach them.
“There’s no need to feel burdened. Since they’ve lent it to us, we should just be grateful and use it well. Of course, we need to take good care of it too.”
“Mm, then I’ll mop the floor 3 times every day!”
Hearing Eve’s gentle reassurance, Leah seemed to start looking forward to seeing the room. In such a beautiful large apartment, would she be able to have a room of her own?
If possible, she hoped to place a flower on the windowsill of her room.
Click.
Just as Eve opened the door, there was movement from the neighboring room.
Eve instinctively looked up and saw a tall young woman with a calm and aloof expression, slowly meeting Eve’s gaze.
She wore the Church Academy uniform, looking graceful and dignified. Her jet-black lustrous hair was tied into a neat ponytail with a hair tie, accentuating her fair and delicate neck, giving off an unapproachable cold aura.
The girl before her was indeed beautiful, causing Eve to couldn’t help but look twice.
Until the young woman showed a confused expression from Eve’s staring, Eve finally realized she was being impolite.
“Ah, s-sorry, I just moved in next door. I’m Eve, and this is my daughter Leah. Please take care of us.”
Eve slightly bowed her head, hurriedly apologizing to the cold young woman before her.
“Oh.”
The young woman responded faintly, her voice similar to her appearance, cool and calm, without much fluctuation.
“Qianzhi.”
The young woman named Qianzhi stated her name, then without waiting for Eve’s response, slightly nodded and walked into her room, closing the door.
Leaving Eve feeling somewhat awkward.
“Qianzhi, someone from the Eastern Continent?”
Eve didn’t think too much about it. After all, being a young lady from a wealthy family, having an eccentric temperament was normal.
“Sweetie, do you know her? I saw she’s wearing the Church Academy uniform.”
“I have some impression, but can’t remember clearly. Usually at the academy, I’m either busy reading or practicing, so I remember very few people.”
Leah said softly while pursing her lips.
“Is that so? But since she’s your classmate and our neighbor, we should try to get along well if there’s a chance in the future.”
“I know.”
Leah nodded, then she remembered the basket of snacks she brought back from the Royal Palace.
“How about I give her some snacks as a welcome gift?”
“Snacks?”
Eve looked at the exquisite basket – it wasn’t a bad idea, after all, they would be seeing each other often, so maintaining good relations couldn’t hurt.
However, giving these kinds of snacks seemed a bit lacking, after all, the other party was clearly a young lady from a wealthy family, otherwise she wouldn’t be living in such a place.
These snacks might be something she has piles of on her table and wouldn’t even bother to look at.
If they were going to give something, it should be something more novel.
