Chapter 349 Bring Her Back
by SurroundedbyBooksAmu and her group had clearly witnessed the entire scene of Chen Fei slaying Nangong Ye.
What shocked them the most was the moment when Chen Fei unleashed the power of the Evil God’s Finger—a sight that shook them to the core.
Without any hesitation, Chen Fei retracted the Evil God’s Finger’s power and leapt forward, charging straight toward Amu and her group.
“He’s coming! Retreat!”
“Fall back! Hurry!”
Almost by instinct, the cultists of the Ancestral Sect scattered in fear. Even Amu herself was swept up in the wave of retreat, unable to resist the instinct to flee.
Chen Fei smirked when he saw them recoil in fear. Without wasting time, he dove straight into the wooden altar at the heart of the formation.
From Qu’a’s explanation, he had learned the method to break the Blood Underworld Formation, but fighting here in the open would be foolish. If surrounded, he’d be at a serious disadvantage. Escaping first might give him better chances.
Amu, after being swept back by the crowd, finally realized what had happened.
“That damned brat!”
She erupted in fury, throwing several nearby cultists aside in rage. Her whole body trembled—not just from anger at her companions’ cowardice, but also out of shame at her own.
“The Ancestor has already issued an order. If Chen Fei isn’t killed, the Ancestral Sect will face annihilation!”
Amu’s eyes were bloodshot as she glared at everyone around her.
“The Sacred Gate has secretly deployed their forces to block reinforcements from the other Dark Sect disciples. As long as we kill Chen Fei and hold the formation, we win!”
She knew she had fled in fear just now, and she wasn’t about to let others dwell on it. With cold determination, she rallied the troops.
“You all understand the situation. If the Ancestor is displeased, none of us will survive. The Blood Underworld Formation is extremely solid. This place is his prison. The advantage is ours!”
The crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief. Their morale, shaken earlier, began to return.
“Elder Amu, rest assured—we’ll do our utmost to kill Chen Fei!”
Amu nodded and waved her hand. Dozens of blood-red crystals floated in front of them.
“These are tokens of the Blood Underworld Formation. Find Chen Fei and activate the tokens—you’ll gain the formation’s protection. Stall him, and we’ll arrive immediately!”
Now armed with this advantage, the cultists—who had previously been terrified—finally felt confident again.
Fighting Chen Fei directly was daunting. But using the formation’s power to trap him? That was something they could handle.
Chen Fei, having escaped during their confusion, didn’t act recklessly. Instead, he quietly returned to the cave entrance and slipped back into the Purple Clear Palace.
Though it was still being searched and could be discovered again, Chen Fei knew he could make use of this brief window to do many important things.
Inside the Purple Clear Palace:
Barbarian Brother sat frowning, while Qu’a’s gaze darted around nervously, not daring to meet Chen Fei’s eyes.
Saintess Ayue, meanwhile, had a complicated expression. Her once-clear eyes were filled with sorrow, and she sat quietly to the side, looking deeply shaken.
“Senior brother, how can your injuries be healed?”
Chen Fei asked directly.
Barbarian Brother looked Chen Fei over carefully.
Chen Fei smiled.
“Are you worried about the Evil God’s Finger?”
As he spoke, the finger on his right hand transformed once more—covered in dense, eerie runes. Qu’a immediately dodged back, clearly more afraid of this than even the palace’s guardian statues.
Chen Fei ignored him.
Barbarian Brother gave Chen Fei a meaningful look.
“Junior brother, this kind of power is dangerous.”
“It’s my secret.”
Chen Fei replied after a brief pause.
Barbarian Brother didn’t press further, but warned:
“Everyone believes they’re in control. But this power will amplify your inner greed without limit. Still, since you seem to have it under control, I’ll trust you.”
Then he took a deep breath and suddenly grimaced.
“That sword strike I took… I’d been nurturing that sword aura for years. Earth Dao cultivators still have their limits.”
He cast a sharp glance at Qu’a, who quickly averted his eyes. Though bitter, Qu’a had to admit the Sacred Gate’s core disciples were terrifying.
Chen Fei thought for a moment.
“Will pills help?”
“Yes,” Barbarian Brother nodded. “But the fastest way would be a Supreme Great Restoration Pill! Even in the Sacred Gate, they’re rare.”
No surprise—the Supreme Great Restoration Pill was extremely expensive.
Chen Fei was a regular at the Treasury Pavilion, but truthfully, he hadn’t paid much attention to such emergency-use pills. He usually focused on strange and exotic ones with unique effects—since rare ingredients meant special insights, which in turn helped his Dao rune grow when refined in the Void Heaven Cauldron.
“I can refine one.”
Chen Fei said after thinking through the pill’s recipe. Fortunately, he happened to have the necessary ingredients.
“You can… refine it?”
Barbarian Brother was stunned.
While it wasn’t the rarest pill in the world, refining a Supreme-grade one required near-perfect alchemy mastery. Otherwise, the pill wouldn’t be rare even within the Sacred Gate.
Chen Fei didn’t argue. If one wanted to refine a supreme pill, every step had to be flawless.
If he were outside, he might hesitate—but inside the Purple Clear Palace, he had special blessings for alchemy!
With a wave of his hand, the Void Heaven Cauldron floated in front of him.
“Refining with a cauldron? Ha!”
Qu’a sneered, completely forgetting his precarious situation.
Chen Fei shot him a cold glare, and flames erupted around him.
Qu’a immediately panicked.
“I’m sorry! I misspoke! Don’t—don’t burn me!”
Chen Fei didn’t intend to kill him—he was still a powerful Earth Dao cultivator, and who knew what secrets he might still hold?
Taking a deep breath, Chen Fei began.
Since obtaining the Purple Clear Palace, he’d been refining pills in his spare time. Few knew about it.
If he could truly refine a Supreme Great Restoration Pill, Barbarian Brother would regain his strength—and that would make breaking the Blood Underworld Formation far easier.
At first, Barbarian Brother didn’t believe him—but seeing Chen Fei’s serious expression, he couldn’t help but grow curious.
Can he really succeed?
Meanwhile, at the altar:
Amu led her people in a frantic search—but Chen Fei was nowhere to be found.
“Impossible! What, did he just vanish into thin air?”
Amu scowled at the cultists, clearly frustrated.
She stood inside one of the damaged branch halls. Although much of the place had been destroyed in the earlier fight, one statue still stood upright.
Suddenly—
The statue’s eyes snapped open.
A beam of crimson light shot into Amu’s mind.
“This is the method to track Ayue. Find her—and bring her back.”
The statue’s eyes slowly closed again, returning to lifeless stone. Cold and emotionless, its command lingered in the air.
