Chapter 333 Gotcha
by SurroundedbyBooksChen Fei, naturally, didn’t expose the gluttonous little girl’s act.
Holy Maiden A-Yue pinched the piece of roasted meat delicately, took a bite—and the juices exploded in her mouth. Despite living a life of luxury, she had never experienced such pure satisfaction before.
This flavor… it’s unreal!
Though Chen Fei was infuriating, his grilling skills were truly out of this world.
Maybe she should arrange for more of that snow valley beast meat from the Northern Frontier—this stuff was divine!
Chen Fei didn’t rush her, just waited patiently.
A-Yue quickly finished her meat, and despite herself, her eyes drifted toward the still-sizzling meat near Chen Fei.
After a moment of hesitation, she spoke:
“You should stop struggling and flee while you still can.
Anyone who stepped into Dongting this time… is going to die.”
Chen Fei narrowed his eyes.
He had expected things to be difficult, but not this bad.
Her certainty suggested the Matriarch Cult—or rather, the heretics—were very well-prepared.
Heaven’s Apex really underestimated the enemy this time.
Despite his unease, he scoffed with disdain:
“Do you think the likes of you can wipe out Heaven’s Apex?”
A-Yue looked up, her gaze pure and serene—like the surface of a still lake.
“I’m not lying. Otherwise, why do you think the Fire Gate Master fell?”
“You expect me to believe a Heaven-Path expert died that easily?” Chen Fei countered.
“You know better than I do whether he really died.” She turned to the fire.
“You’re not bad. I can help you escape Dongting. Go find some place to live quietly. You might survive.”
Chen Fei gave her a look.
How naïve.
A falling nest leaves no whole eggs. If Heaven’s Apex fell, he wouldn’t be spared either.
Still, he was curious—what kind of methods could the heretics possibly be using to kill Heaven-Path cultivators?
The Fire Gate Master’s fall should’ve been a wake-up call. Surely Mu Yunshu and the others had realized by now.
“Thanks for the offer,” Chen Fei said politely and handed her another piece of meat.
A-Yue didn’t say much more, but Chen Fei gleaned several key points from what she said.
First:
The situation was extremely bad—not just for him, but for all undercover operatives from Heaven’s Apex.
But he didn’t believe that Strategist Wang hadn’t noticed this.
This could very well be a test of the Dark Disciples.
After all, geniuses raised in a greenhouse aren’t real geniuses.
Second:
The heretics were seriously prepared.
They likely did have a way to deal with Heaven-Path cultivators.
Meaning the whole of Dongting might soon become a battleground—and eventually, a forbidden zone.
When experts fall, their residual energy lingers.
That’s how forbidden zones are born.
Chen Fei sighed. The world was descending into chaos.
A catastrophe for all.
But even in crisis, there is opportunity.
“Dongting is dangerous… but it might also be my chance,” Chen Fei murmured, eyes gleaming.
A-Yue watched his expression shift and frowned slightly.
She glanced down at the last bite of her meat and blushed slightly.
“Your face looks kind of scary.”
“Can’t help it—you people came looking for me,” Chen Fei chuckled.
A-Yue’s eyes widened.
“But didn’t you say no one would find you?”
“I lied.”
Chen Fei grinned, and before she could even respond, he waved his hand and sealed her back into the Purple Clear Palace.
Having this palace really makes everything easier.
“Heaven’s Apex dog—get out here!”
A furious roar shattered the night.
Moments later, a terrifying burst of force slammed down in front of Chen Fei’s former position, shattering stone and earth.
But Chen Fei was already gone.
“There he is!” someone shouted, pointing.
All eyes turned to look—
Only to find nothing.
“Wrong! Damn that cunning bastard!”
The square-faced brute who had attacked first immediately realized something was off.
He had heard of the crafty genius from Heaven’s Apex, and today’s encounter only proved the rumors true.
He dared to mock us in front of so many?!
If they let him escape, they’d have no face left—and might as well kill themselves!
But Chen Fei wasn’t dumb.
There was no winning a head-on fight here.
Instead, he had already formulated a plan.
A plan that required cooperation from the other hidden experts.
There was no way so many elite operatives had been wiped out.
If he could draw enough attention, the others would feel less pressure—and once they regrouped, they’d become a force to be reckoned with.
“Where’d he go?!”
Chen Fei raced through the mountain valleys while the brawny man chased relentlessly behind.
Judging by the man’s power, he was at the peak of the Profound Realm.
Ordinarily, Chen Fei could’ve slain him with a single strike.
But right now, he was outnumbered and could only retreat.
Still, fleeing wasn’t really his style.
As he approached a bend in the valley, a sly grin crept onto his lips.
He slapped the cliff wall beside him and vanished into the shadows.
“We can’t let him escape!”
The brute leapt from the valley floor into the sky.
His sharp gaze scanned the area like a hawk.
“There!”
Eyes gleaming, he hurled his massive mace toward Chen Fei’s location.
BOOM!
The area shattered—but the figure was just a mirage.
“A fake?!”
As he froze in shock, screams rang out behind him.
He turned—only to see Chen Fei, wielding a massive sword, sweeping through his comrades like a storm, cutting them down one by one.
Clean. Efficient. Ruthless.
“Damn you!”
The brute clenched his teeth, only to see Chen Fei mock him with a throat-slashing gesture before diving back into the valley below.
This kind of pursuit was child’s play for Chen Fei.
But his provocation had successfully infuriated the Matriarch Cult’s experts.
“Arrogant little bastard! If I don’t kill you today, I swear I’m not human!”
The brute’s eyes burned crimson, muscles bulging, body expanding—he seemed to grow larger in an instant.
And with a roar, he launched himself after Chen Fei again—
this time, much faster.
The gap between them was shrinking fast.
