Chapter 18 It Backfired

He couldn’t kill the support person to silence them—not only would the authorities investigate the homicide,
but he couldn’t even stand by and watch others die, let alone kill a real human.
His plan was simple: go in, deal with the giant beast, severely injure the three dead soldiers, fake serious injuries,
then fake a counterattack while “dying” and get thrown into the nearby river.
The rapids meant no body would be found—he’d float upstream and escape.
After deciding, Yun Qingsheng got out and walked over.
“What are you doing? Get back in the car—this is dangerous, not for you.” The support person, seeing him, stopped him.
“The monster you’re facing is a giant beast from our world. I can handle it. If you don’t want your teammates dead, don’t stop me.” Yun Qingsheng spoke and walked past, not bothering to explain.
After he entered, the support person reported to headquarters.
“Damn it, the Type II Propagator’s skin is too tough—conventional weapons do nothing.” Chen Zhi panted, gun in hand.
In two or three minutes, two died, others were wounded.
Surprisingly, Lin Moyan, with no combat experience, was unhurt—just messy.
No one noticed Yun Qingsheng enter.
Initially, Chen Zhi wanted Lin Moyan out, but seeing him hold off an infected, he changed his mind—needing manpower, he kept him.
“All of you, deal with the dead soldiers. I’ll take the giant beast.” Yun Qingsheng shouted.
Before they could react, he leaped over ten meters, a flying kick sending the beast meters away.
“Lin Moyan, you handle the dead soldiers—you can’t fight the giant beast.” Seeing their shock, Yun Qingsheng repeated.
“O – okay.” Lin Moyan and Chen Zhi were stunned—the beast, hundreds of kilos, sent flying by one kick.
The scene shocked them.
“Still staring? You want to die?” Yun Qingsheng snapped.
They snapped out of it, forming teams to fight the dead soldiers—their experience let them barely manage four vs. one.
“Roar!!!” The kicked beast charged back.
Yun Qingsheng’s leg ached—overestimated his recovery.
Single – handedly fighting the beast was tough.
Alert, he clenched fists—no weapon, so he’d shatter its spine.
“Remember, their weak point is the spine—break it to kill them.” Seeing their confusion, he warned.
Unaware, they relied on firepower—effective but inefficient, needing nuclear weapons for higher levels.
Lin Moyan’s group, hearing this, targeted spines—dead soldiers slowed, confirming it worked.
Their looks at Yun Qingsheng grew complex.
Yun Qingsheng, overestimating himself, struggled—hit in the abdomen, coughing blood.
“No combat suit, no energy—can’t activate bio – stance or control magnetic fields. At tenth strength, no weapon, no energy.”
He charged, knee – striking the beast’s skull.
“Bang!” The beast fell—Yun Qingsheng locked its neck with his legs.
Breaking the neck would create a recovery window to shatter the spine.
“Roar!!!” The beast thrashed, fists hammering him—Yun Qingsheng held tighter, legs locking.
A test of will—Yun Qingsheng snapped the neck, collapsing as the beast fell on him.
“Ugh!” Blood spurted—vision blurred, pinned under the beast.
“Underestimated it… Oh well, at least I can see a – 026 – 10 now.”
“Got a name, know emotions—live up to it.”
“Too bad—no last look at Yun Jinxin.”
“Yun Qingsheng! Yun Qingsheng!” Faint calls—he couldn’t open his eyes.
The beast rose, grabbing his foot—he felt it tear through the air, then splash into water—thrown by the beast, hitting hard, losing consciousness to pain.
……….
“Damn it!” Lin Moyan, too late to save him, saw Yun Qingsheng pinned—they’d killed three dead soldiers, rushing to help only to see the beast revive, fling Yun Qingsheng out the “gate.”
“Hold the beast—I’ll find Yun Qingsheng.” Lin Moyan charged out.
Outside, the support person was gone.
“Quick, over here!” Noise—two tanks, rocket launchers, a hundred soldiers (an enhanced company).
Relieved, Lin Moyan went to find Yun Qingsheng—this force could handle the beast.
