    Chapter Index

“Senior Sister, are you alright?” Chen Fei asked, eyeing Leng Yue’s withered arm.

“I’m fine,” Leng Yue replied, shaking her head. Her gaze toward Chen Fei had noticeably softened.

“Heh! My ascension-devouring power isn’t so easy to withstand!” sneered Fairy Taozhu, mocking Leng Yue’s casual attitude toward the damage.

Leng Yue calmly glanced at the wound on Taozhu’s abdomen.

“And my Ice Blade wasn’t exactly easy to swallow either.”

Taozhu was clearly at a disadvantage.

Though she had broken through to the Human Dao Realm, against Leng Yue’s chilling power, she was suffering.

And now, trying to wrest control of the Blood Fiend Formation from Chen Fei?

    Wishful thinking at best.

Suddenly, a surge of violent energy came from the other end of the tunnel.

    “Hm?” Chen Fei turned—

The entire underground palace began to tremble violently.

“Senior Sister, let’s go!” he said without hesitation.

    This was underground—

If it collapsed, being buried alive would be far from pleasant.

Leng Yue didn’t hesitate either. With a flick of her hand, she conjured a crystal of ice and hurled it at Fairy Taozhu.

Taozhu frowned and summoned a blossom-shaped peach mist to block it.

But before it even touched the barrier, the ice crystal exploded, releasing a burst of frosty energy that spread out like a wall of ice, sealing off the space in front of Taozhu.

It was like an ice barricade appeared out of thin air!

“Leng Yue! How despicable!” Taozhu shouted, realizing her opponent was trying to stall her.

“Hmph.” Leng Yue snorted coldly—a short, sharp reply of contempt.

    Chen Fei sprinted ahead.

Stones were beginning to fall from the ceiling.

By the time he and Leng Yue reached the first plaza again, the once-still mirror-like pool had been disturbed by falling debris.

Chen Fei came to a halt.

The statues that once stood silently on the water had begun to move—

And the creatures lurking beneath the surface were also beginning to stir.

Clearly, getting past this area would not be easy.

“Pfft!” Leng Yue suddenly stumbled and coughed up a mouthful of dark blood.

“Senior Sister!” Chen Fei rushed forward to support her.

“I’m fine,” she waved him off. “That witch’s life-devouring art… was indeed potent.”

Chen Fei took a deep breath.

“Return to Ziqing Palace and rest. Leave this place to me.”

Leng Yue looked at him for a long moment before finally nodding.

    “Alright.”

With a flash of light, she disappeared.

Chen Fei looked up at the Fallen God Guardians ahead.

They seemed to sense his gaze.

One by one, these previously motionless creatures lifted their heads, revealing blood-red eyes fixed on Chen Fei.

    Individually, they weren’t strong—

But so many together created a suffocating pressure.

Chen Fei’s eyes darted to the space rift at the far side.

    It had already begun fluctuating.

If he delayed, he might never escape this secret realm.

Taking a deep breath, Chen Fei stepped forward.

    “Void Slash!”

The massive, bladeless sword swung like a steel door, swatting several guardians away.

But their bodies were unnaturally tough.

Even after being knocked aside, they quickly bounced back, lunging at him again.

That was the real trouble with these things.

Luckily, Chen Fei’s swordplay was tight and precise, never giving the guardians a chance to close in.

Yet what truly worried him wasn’t them—

It was the lurking creature beneath the water’s surface.

Fairy Taozhu arrived just then, seeing Chen Fei surrounded. Her eyes lit up.

“Chen Fei! Hand over the Blood Fiend Formation, and I’ll help you escape!”

    Hearing this, Chen Fei chuckled.

“Didn’t know Fairy Taozhu was not only beautiful but kindhearted too.”

    She clearly understood the sarcasm.

“That formation is useless to you. Give it to me, and the Holy Sect will cease hunting you.”

“You trying to trick a toddler? If you’re so good with words, why don’t you talk to them?” Chen Fei grinned, twisting his wrist and sweeping his giant sword, knocking several Fallen God Guardians toward her.

    These things had no mind—

Once awakened, they attacked everything in sight.

Taozhu raised her arms, conjuring pink vine-like cords to bind the oncoming guardians.

But these mindless beasts were her greatest weakness.

Her arts relied on charm, temptation, emotion—

All of which were useless against creatures without minds or desires.

The rumbling behind them grew louder.

    Chen Fei turned—

Wang Fang was back, eyes glowing red, body twitching unnaturally.

Somehow, he had recovered from his wounds, but his expression was wild and crazed.

“Chen Fei…” he growled. There was still hatred in his voice, even if his mind wasn’t entirely intact.

“Fang, you’re looking… unwell,” Chen Fei quipped.

Then, without hesitation, he kicked one of the guardians and stepped onto its back, launching himself over the water’s surface.

A grotesque tentacle burst from the water, swiping at him.

But Chen Fei’s movements were sharp—

He swung his massive sword downward, slicing into the water with force that sent him flying forward, using the impact like a propulsion burst.

    The tentacle missed—

A shrill screech echoed from the depths.

Chen Fei leapt again, abandoning the guardian beneath his feet.

    There were plenty of others.

Oddly enough, the enemy numbers now helped him.

Each guardian became a stepping stone, and Chen Fei dashed across the water with uncanny agility.

“Die!” Wang Fang charged at Chen Fei, roaring.

Thankfully, he had lost his reason—

If he had retained control over the Fallen God’s power, this escape would’ve been far more difficult.

The underwater monster, furious at being tricked by Chen Fei, suddenly found an outlet.

Just as Wang Fang charged past, it lashed out.

“Out of my way!” he roared, as the Fallen God’s Hand grabbed the tentacle.

    A struggle began.

But that had nothing to do with Chen Fei anymore.

He had already escaped the cursed waters, using the guardians as stepping stones.

“Fang! Better have your ransom ready next time too!” Chen Fei laughed as he waved mockingly—

Then disappeared into the rippled space rift, leaving the nightmare behind.
