Chapter 306: Greed
by SurroundedbyBooksWang Fang instinctively glanced at the golden patterns on Chen Fei’s forehead, a sense of foreboding rising in his chest.
At that very moment, Chen Fei’s edgeless greatsword swept through the air.
A sharp burst of sword qi ripped the space in front of Wang Fang, followed by a piercing, shrill cry.
“Pfft!”
Wang Fang’s face turned deathly pale. He stumbled backward, shock filling his eyes.
“Y-You… You actually injured the Will of the Fallen God?!”
His voice trembled with disbelief.
Chen Fei didn’t waste a word. Having landed a strike, he immediately retreated.
The reason he could injure the Will of the Fallen God so easily was twofold:
First, the Fallen God didn’t consider him a threat.
Second, Chen Fei had awakened his bloodline.
Though this attack landed, it wasn’t enough to destroy the Fallen God’s Will.
But that wasn’t his goal.
He wanted to free Duhuo Demon Lord from the will’s control.
Once that happened, watching them turn on each other would be more satisfying.
The Demon Lord, whose body had just begun regaining control, finally broke free thanks to Chen Fei’s interference.
“Wang Fang! You’ve got guts!”
Duhuo Demon Lord roared, and a surge of demonic energy erupted from his body, blowing away two nearby Blood Cloud Sect elders.
With the Will of the Fallen God attempting to restore its flesh, those elders were now the most ideal nourishment.
Watching more of his own people fall, Wang Fang’s heart ached bitterly.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this!
And it was all Chen Fei’s fault!
But Chen Fei was nowhere to be seen.
“Wang Fang, did you ever consider the consequences of attacking me?”
Duhuo Demon Lord’s face was cold, his gaze sharp.
He knew what Chen Fei was thinking.
But Wang Fang?
That treacherous dog actually dared to set him up.
Of course he wouldn’t let this slide.
As for Chen Fei… once Wang Fang was dealt with, he wouldn’t escape either.
Wang Fang’s expression darkened. Though he hesitated for a moment, one look at the furious Demon Lord convinced him—there was no backing down.
“Forgive me, elders!”
With a shout, the Eye of the Fallen God on his shoulder spun rapidly, turning to face the remaining Blood Cloud Sect elders.
“Young Master, no—!”
“Damn you, Wang Fang! You’ll die a miserable death!”
Some cursed in fury, others sighed in bitter acceptance.
Facing a powerful Demon Lord, Wang Fang’s only hope lay in leveraging the Will of the Fallen God.
And to awaken that will, he needed fresh blood and flesh.
He had no choice.
Duhuo Demon Lord immediately saw through Wang Fang’s intent and let out a cold snort.
He raised his hand, and a massive dark hand of energy formed, crashing toward Wang Fang and the others.
“Die!”
But just before it struck Wang Fang, the Eye of the Fallen God turned once more and looked at the descending hand.
It froze midair—
Then shattered into a million fragments.
Wang Fang clenched his teeth, eyes full of cold fury.
Retreating now would mean death.
But he still had one chance left:
The Hand of the Fallen God.
If he could absorb the Hand’s power, the Will of the Fallen God would greatly strengthen, and not even Duhuo Demon Lord would be able to resist.
“Corrupted Bloodlight!”
Wang Fang opened his palm.
A blood-red orb lay in his hand, glowing with a vile crimson radiance that spread outward.
Duhuo Demon Lord narrowed his eyes.
“They say Corrupted Bloodlight is the vilest poison in the world. Let’s see how it holds up against my God-Demon Force!”
With a grunt, he spun his hand and thrust forward.
Dark demonic energy gathered before him, forming a barrier to block the invasion of the bloodlight.
But Wang Fang never intended to use the bloodlight to hurt the Demon Lord.
He used it to create an opening.
While Duhuo was occupied, Wang Fang’s figure flickered and vanished.
“What?! You tricked me!”
Duhuo Demon Lord realized what had happened and immediately turned to look.
Wang Fang had appeared at the exit of the corridor.
“You’re dead!”
Duhuo Demon Lord charged after him, trailing thick demonic energy.
But the moment he entered the next chamber, his face changed.
The familiar suppressive force returned.
Luckily, this time, he was prepared.
He immediately gathered all his power and encased himself in energy, shielding himself from the will’s control.
“Wang Fang! I’ll be taking the Fallen God’s Will. Don’t worry—I’ll take good care of Blood Cloud Sect, too.”
The threat was clear.
Wang Fang’s eyes turned icy.
He didn’t even bother to respond.
Because he knew—
This was now a life-or-death battle.
If Duhuo Demon Lord made it out alive, Blood Cloud Sect would be doomed.
And his only hope lay with the Hand of the Fallen God.
Crossing the threshold, he finally laid eyes on what he had longed for.
A pitch-black coffin rested in the center of the grand plaza.
As he stepped onto the plaza, the coffin shattered—
Revealing an arm inside.
Around the arm, eight chains bound it tightly.
“Heh. Looks like you’re too late.”
Duhuo Demon Lord arrived, eyes gleaming with amusement.
Dark blood dripped continuously from the arm.
When it sensed the presence of the Eye of the Fallen God, it began to struggle violently.
The entire plaza started to shake.
Duhuo’s expression grew greedy.
He could not hesitate.
If he could obtain the power of the Fallen God, he would surely ascend to the Heavenly Sovereign Realm—
a peak existence in all of Xuanhuang Continent.
The temptation was too great.
He raised his hand, aiming a strike at Wang Fang.
Wang Fang gritted his teeth.
Now was the moment to go all out.
The Eye of the Fallen God turned and stared at Duhuo.
Duhuo sneered, unimpressed.
But the moment he moved, his expression twisted in shock.
He immediately retreated, watching the eye with full caution.
Wang Fang didn’t even look his way.
He poured power into the blood orb, which erupted in a crimson glow and struck the chains binding the Fallen God’s Hand.
A corrosive force spread.
The chains began to tremble, and the arm thrashed more violently.
“You dare try to free the Fallen God’s Hand in front of me? Do you take me for a joke?!”
Duhuo Demon Lord growled.
With a flicker, a black saber appeared in his hand, and he swung it at Wang Fang’s back.
The blade cleaved through space itself.
But just as the attack reached Wang Fang, a barrier suddenly formed above the plaza.
Duhuo’s heart sank.
Damn it… I shouldn’t have attacked now!
