Chapter 287: Can’t Stop Now
by SurroundedbyBooksChen Fei was now eager to test whether he truly had the power to fight someone in the Human Dao Realm.
The icy aura on his Wufeng Greatsword continued to spread—that alone was a sign of his recent breakthrough.
With a flick of his hand, a flame rune lit up on the blade, causing the sword to flash brightly. With a single swing, he unleashed the Yin-Yang Five Elements Seal directly toward Leng Yue.
Leng Yue raised her hand, and a crystalline ice barrier instantly formed, blocking the incoming seal.
The flames exploded on impact, but they failed to shatter the thin, almost transparent ice crystal.
But that was exactly what Chen Fei wanted.
He appeared before the ice wall, gripping his greatsword with both hands and sweeping horizontally.
CRACK!
The ice wall shattered instantly.
Leng Yue raised an eyebrow. She hadn’t expected Chen Fei’s strike to be so forceful—he was far stronger than she had assumed.
Without a word, Chen Fei followed up with another slash, the Wufeng Greatsword becoming a dark blur.
“Senior Sister Leng Yue, you’d better be careful!”
“Just you? Still far from enough,” Leng Yue snorted, her tone icy.
She swiftly formed a seal and struck toward the incoming blade with her palm.
A bone-chilling cold surged through Chen Fei, freezing even his skeleton with audible cracks. His speed immediately slowed.
A single misstep snowballed into a full disadvantage.
By the time he looked up, Leng Yue’s figure had already vanished from in front of him.
But with a flow of Qi through his body, Chen Fei’s stiff limbs quickly loosened. He twisted at the waist and spun midair using the momentum from his greatsword.
Though the movement appeared clumsy, it was powerful and effective.
Even Leng Yue showed a hint of surprise in her gaze.
Not only was Chen Fei advancing in strength at an astonishing pace, but his ability to adapt in battle was far beyond ordinary cultivators.
His relentless assault, even in such unfavorable conditions, left a deep impression.
Still, Leng Yue remained calm.
After stepping into the Human Dao Realm, she had truly begun to comprehend the Dao of Ice on a deeper level.
“Thousand Threads of Ice!”
She formed a complex seal with both hands and slapped it forward.
A surge of chilling energy shot out and encased Chen Fei in a block of ice, freezing him into a sculpture.
CRACK!
Just as she was about to back away, the frozen statue of Chen Fei began to crack and split.
With a leap, Chen Fei burst out, flames blazing all over his body.
He showed no signs of injury from the freezing attack.
Leng Yue let out a quiet sigh of frustration.
She knew well how strong Chen Fei’s body had become. Now that he had broken into the Mysterious Realm, it was only natural that his physical resilience had surged again.
This guy… he’s truly troublesome.
Chen Fei laughed but didn’t press the attack again.
By now, he had gained a clear understanding of the gap between himself and the Human Dao Realm—or rather, between himself and Leng Yue.
His raw power was enough to kill someone in the Human Dao Realm if he landed a clean strike.
But when it came to speed and evasion, he was still at a disadvantage.
In a real fight, unless he caught the opponent off-guard, it would be hard to land a fatal blow.
Even so, if he had the element of surprise, he estimated his odds at 80% to slay a Human Dao Realm expert!
That was his confidence.
“Thank you for the guidance, Senior Sister Leng Yue,” Chen Fei said, sheathing his sword with a smile and giving her a cupped-fist salute.
Then, he glanced toward the outside of the Ziqing Palace.
“Sounds like things are getting pretty rowdy out there.”
Leng Yue walked calmly to his side.
“What’s your plan?”
“Sit back and watch the tigers fight. Once the moment’s right, we strike together.”
A cold light flashed in Chen Fei’s eyes.
He hadn’t forgotten how these people had hunted him down like a dog.
Now the tides had turned, and he would not miss his chance to strike back.
Meanwhile, outside—
Bai Jing, though freed from her restraints, hadn’t fully recovered her power.
Even so, the feeling of freedom was a priceless luxury for her.
“Foolish vermin,” she hissed.
Despite her massive size, her movements were fast and deadly. Her razor-sharp claws left streaks of black shadows in the air as she slaughtered one evil cultivator after another.
Peachmist Fairy Tao Rong frowned as she watched Bai Jing tear through their forces even inside the enchanted Peachmist Forest.
“Everyone should understand by now—if we can’t seize the Black-Red Command Token, you know what that means.”
Those who had been slacking off instantly tensed.
“Rest assured, Fairy Tao! This demon beast will pay the price for blocking the Holy Sect today!”
“Fellow cultivators, attack together! Kill her!”
Dozens of evil cultivators launched desperate attacks. Sinister auras blasted toward Bai Jing.
“You think this queen has no temper?”
Bai Jing’s face turned ferocious.
These weaklings were nothing but blood food to her. But now they were acting slippery, attacking and retreating quickly, making it hard for her to land a clean hit.
She had hoped to scare them off, capture a few to feed on, and recover her strength.
But instead, they had gone completely berserk, attacking her as though possessed.
“Fine! Since you want to die—I’ll grant your wish!”
She snapped her head sideways.
A thread of white silk shot out like lightning, wrapping around a Mysterious Realm evil cultivator.
His expression changed instantly. He spun his weapon and began hacking at the silk thread.
But Bai Jing’s spider silk was incredibly tough—even enchanted tools couldn’t cut it.
His panic only grew.
As the silk tightened, it began to drag him toward Bai Jing’s open maw.
“Help! Help me!”
He screamed in desperation, forming a black-red energy blast in his hand and hurling it toward her face.
Peachmist Fairy’s eyes flashed coldly.
“Now! Full assault!”
Without hesitation, the evil cultivators unleashed their full power.
That unfortunate cultivator was clearly just bait—a sacrificial pawn.
None of the others hesitated. Magical artifacts gleamed in their hands, waves of demonic energy slamming into Bai Jing’s long legs.
Her strength and agility came from her powerful limbs, especially those massive legs beneath her abdomen.
Tao Rong didn’t stay idle either. She pulled out a Peachmist Branch, murmured an incantation, and bit her tongue, spraying a mouthful of blood onto the branch.
The branch rapidly withered, then disintegrated.
At the same moment, a strange energy surged through the Peachmist Forest, causing Bai Jing’s gaze to go momentarily blank.
That pause was enough.
The magic weapons crashed into her legs, crushing one cleanly and slamming her abdomen against the ground.
What once looked like a beautiful forest of soft pink branches suddenly turned menacing, the branches wrapping tightly around her.
“Now! Don’t stop! Keep going!”
Tao Rong’s face lit up with delight.
Though she had sacrificed a thousand-year-old Peachmist Branch, a treasure hard to find, the effect had been worth it.
If they could kill Bai Jing, they’d:
Reclaim control of Chen Fei
Seize the Black-Red Command Token, which was the core of the Blood Fiend Formation
And even harvest a shapeshifted demon beast’s core and essence blood
Any one of those would repay her loss tenfold.
In fact, this might just be a windfall.
