    Chapter 447: S-Class Adventurer

The young man Rocco died after being bitten in half at the waist, Lloyd died from a chest piercing, and Sherry died with her head separated from her body.

The first two were retrieved, but the severed head of the latter girl was overlooked by Stealth Eighteen.

After all, in such an urgent situation, how could one spare the effort to search for a head on a blood-soaked ground? Moreover, even if found, the forelimbs of ants after Magnification were more likely to crush the head rather than skewer it alongside other corpses.

    “What should we do…”

    Stealth Eighteen appeared somewhat disappointed.

If limbs were missing, it might still be manageable; even with a small portion of the body gone, resurrection remained possible. But without the head, revival was utterly impossible.

“Not only are you headstrong, but you’re also careless.”

At that moment, Stealth Seventeen’s voice sounded once more.

The little girl lectured while retrieving a bloodied girl’s head from her Magic Backpack.

It turned out that while Stealth Eighteen acted earlier, she hadn’t been idle, recovering the head of the girl Sherry, whose eyes remained open in a pool of blood at the scene.

    “Here, don’t lose this.”

Stealth Seventeen handed the bloodied head to Stealth Eighteen.

“Ah! Wonderful! Seventeen is so kind!”

Stealth Eighteen accepted the head from the little girl with delight, as if receiving a precious treasure.

Yet despite the warmth between the two girls, the scene remained eerie and terrifying.

This grim tableau didn’t linger; after taking the head, Stealth Eighteen stored it along with the scattered corpses into her Magic Backpack.

    The two surveyed their surroundings.

They stood inside a two-story house devoid of any living presence. The chaotic footprints on the floor and overturned furniture betrayed the family’s panicked escape.

They then ascended to the rooftop, where the silver-haired beauty with pink eyes naturally bent down, scooped up the little girl, and both resumed observing the Mountain of Flesh.

According to the adventurers they’d overheard, one final S-class Adventurer Squad hadn’t yet appeared, so they weren’t ready to withdraw.

After the Mountain of Flesh rampaged through the town for several more minutes, Stealth Seventeen, sensing something, narrowed her eyes and tapped Stealth Eighteen’s arm embracing her.

Though a bit slower, Stealth Eighteen also noticed the anomaly.

Both girls reactivated “Invisibility” to conceal themselves, simultaneously turning their gaze toward a direction beyond the city walls.

“Is that big thing the Devouring Demon Mountain from the request? How hideous.”

“It’s the Devouring Demon Mountain, my lovely Ellena.”

“Oh, well, such an ugly creature’s name hardly matters. But Hugue, you seem even more handsome than before.”

“Ellena… now that you mention it, you appear lovelier than ever too.”

After exchanging a few more sweet nothings, the handsome young man and beautiful young woman halted in unison, embraced, and kissed…

Lost in passion, they even dismissed the colossal mountain looming in their sight.

They only stopped when breathing grew labored, still longing for more.

“This monster’s roars are far too noisy. Once we dispatch it, we’ll find a quiet spot… What do you say, my Ellena?”

“Then let’s finish this swiftly. Who’d have thought we’d set out so late yet still be the first to locate the monster?”

    “The first? Heh, perhaps.”

The blond, handsome young man named Hugue offered a faint, noncommittal smile.

However carefree he acted, he still recalled his adventurer status. Since this task repaid an old debt to the king, he approached it with a touch more seriousness.

S-class adventurers on this continent could be counted on one’s fingers. Though adventurers, they rarely took quests from the Adventurer’s Guild anymore; for those at the pinnacle, ordinary rewards held no allure.

Hugue was the youngest and lowest-ranked among this elite group. Still, without his past ties to the old king, he wouldn’t have accepted the mission.

Wouldn’t it be better to spend this time and energy roaming and playing with his Ellena?

As Hugue contemplated finishing off the Mountain of Flesh to settle his debt to the king and resume his carefree travels, he reached out and drew Ellena into his arms.

Then activating his skill, his form blurred into a streak as he shot toward the colossal mass in the town.

Soon, they arrived atop a house a hundred meters from the meat mountain ravaging the settlement.

    “Look, Hugue, over there—that’s…”

After leaping from Hugue’s embrace, Ellena pointed in surprise toward a spot near the meat mountain.

Hugue followed her gesture and saw, amidst the rubble, not only crimson bloodstains everywhere but also fragments of black armor scattered on the ground.

“Hah, indeed, it’s that Class A Adventurer Squad called Black Ant. Seems they clashed with this meat mountain before us.”

    Hugue sneered contemptuously.

“A useless bunch; fame and numbers mean nothing when they’re wiped out. They not only failed to help but served the monster a feast.”

“If I recall, besides the king’s army, two other Class A Adventurer Squads were involved… Tsk, what were their names? Hyena and White Lion? Either devoured with those Black Ant failures or they fled.”

After a brief glance at the black armor pieces strewn in the blood, the young man ignored them, focusing instead on the meat mountain, which seemed to have grown larger.

He’d dawdled deliberately, not only doubting the meat mountain’s supposed power but also hoping the Class A squads would strike first.

If they succeeded in killing it, he’d save effort and depart for leisure.

If they failed and died, so much the better—working with such incompetents would only hinder him, and it proved the meat mountain deserved his attention.

From the outset, he’d never intended to aid the Black Ant or White Lion.
