Chapter 401
by post_apiChapter 401: The Academy
The carriage halted before a massive stone gate, atop which the words “Rollo Magic Academy” were carved.
“The task is complete; here is your reward.”
Army Lady retrieved five small silver coins from her pocket and tossed them to the boy.
The young boy fumbled to catch the coins and gasped in surprise upon examining them closely.
“This is too much! You’ve overpaid!”
“Consider the extra a token from us sisters.”
Whether satisfied with the boy’s service or moved by his patched, threadbare clothes and malnourished, sallow face, Army Lady felt inclined to grant him additional coins.
The Ant Clan currently lacked no wealth; each member carried dozens of gold coins alongside substantial amounts of other valuable currency—more than ordinary people in this world could earn in a lifetime.
Only after the boy bounded away in delight did the six women turn their attention to the imposing gate.
Flanking the towering stone structure stood equally lofty walls, while two tall soldiers, holding long spears, stood guard at its base.
Considering that the kingdom’s Chief Mage had emerged from this very Magic Academy, the institution was undoubtedly regarded as a vital training facility by the realm.
Soldiers stationed at the entrance seemed only natural.
Magic Rainbow led her sisters toward the gate.
“Halt! Identify yourselves!”
As anticipated, the soldiers intercepted the group.
Individuals concealing their faces near the Magic Academy would inevitably be deemed suspicious.
“These two are my nieces, here to enroll as students.”
In response to the soldier’s challenge, Magic Rainbow first nudged Demon One and Demon Two forward.
As the pair stepped ahead, they removed their masks, unveiling striking visages.
Both possessed long, snow-white hair, yet Demon One bore heterochromatic eyes—one red, one blue—while Demon Two’s shone with vivid jade hues.
The sight of the two young women left the gate guards momentarily spellbound.
Unfazed, Magic Rainbow proceeded to remove her own mask.
Revealed was a captivating woman with white hair and crimson eyes, a small lock of multicolored hair gracing the right side of her bangs.
“I am their aunt and have come to apply for a teaching position at Rollo Magic Academy. These are sealed letters of recommendation from the lord of Aowenduo Town and the local Adventurer’s Guildmaster.”
Tucking the vibrant lock behind her ear, Magic Rainbow offered a faint smile as she handed the wax-sealed envelopes to one soldier.
The guards had just managed to tear their gazes from the maidens’ delicate features when Magic Rainbow’s breathtaking countenance seized their attention anew.
They froze once more.
What fortune brought three such beauties—each a rare sight—here today?
No—wait. What had she claimed?
She sought a teaching post? And bore recommendations from both the town lord and Adventurer’s Guildmaster?
A ripple of tension passed between the soldiers as they exchanged solemn glances.
But after taking the two letters, just as they were about to speak, their attention turned to the remaining three women: Army Lady, Lvzi, and Stealth One.
“Who are these ladies?”
There was a hint of respect in the soldier’s voice.
If those two letters were genuine, a person recommended by both the town lord and the Guild President… could not be an ordinary individual, and they might indeed become teachers at the Magic Academy in the future.
Should they truly become instructors at this academy, their status would be beyond reproach.
“Oh, these are three B-class adventurers from the Aowenduo Town Adventurer’s Guild. They were commissioned by the lord to escort us to the capital.”
“B-class adventurers?!”
The soldier was startled and couldn’t help but take several more glances at the three cloaked women.
“Heheh, would you like to see our Adventurer ID?”
Lvzi giggled and waved the Adventurer ID in her hand.
The soldier looked closely and saw that the Adventurer ID was made of silver; he knew that only adventurers who attained B-class could obtain such a silver Adventurer ID.
“There’s no need; I shall go in and report immediately. Please wait here for a moment.”
The soldier took a deep breath and spoke respectfully.
The three women watched as the soldier hurriedly entered the academy, walking toward a building ahead.
Soon afterward, a young man hurriedly followed the soldier.
As he drew nearer, the young man was also captivated by the beauty of the three women, but he quickly snapped back to reality.
“Pardon my rudeness; I am Hank, the counselor of this academy. I primarily handle most non-teaching matters, and you three are here to enroll and apply for teaching positions, correct?”
“Yes, Mr. Hank.”
Magic Rainbow smiled slightly, and her smile dazed Hank, but after a moment, he regained his composure and averted his gaze.
“Then please follow me…”
Mentally admiring Magic Rainbow’s exquisite appearance, Hank’s face regained its calm as he spoke, leading the three women into the academy.
“Then the commission is complete, and you three may depart now.”
Magic Rainbow did not follow immediately but addressed Army Lady and the other two women behind her.
“Well, the three of us do not intend to return to Aowenduo Town, so we shall remain at the Adventurer’s Guild in the capital. Since we have formed some camaraderie during this time, if you require any assistance, you may come to the Adventurer’s Guild to seek us out.”
Army Lady nodded and responded.
“I shall, and I will converse with you three later.”
They exchanged glances, a flicker of amusement in their eyes, as if recalling the time they performed at the gate of Aowenduo Town.
In the future, such enactments might occur several more times.
After speaking, Army Lady departed from the academy entrance with Lvzi and Stealth One. They planned to report to the Adventurer’s Guild in the capital.
Since they wished to investigate news about reincarnators, the Adventurer’s Guild, where missions are frequently assigned, was a vital “information station.”
Magic Rainbow followed Hank into the academy with her two younger sisters.
“I have verified the two letters you presented; they are indeed from the town lord and the Guild President. Upon my arrival, the letters had already been handed over to the Vice Dean.”
Hank walked ahead, speaking as he moved.
“Barring any issues, the entrance examinations and teaching applications for the three of you should commence shortly.”
“Is that so? Could you inform us how the tests will be conducted?”
“Hehe, our academy differs slightly from others. Other academies might examine you and your two nieces on magic knowledge and skills, but our institution emphasizes the ‘practical application’ of magic.”
Hank turned his head, squinting as he cast a meaningful look at the three women.
