Chapter 634
by fanqienovelChapter 634: The Book of Time (Part 2)
Hongmeng Hall.
A woman in green awakened from her cultivation. Her eyes sparkled brilliantly as her fingers flickered, seemingly calculating heavenly mysteries.
After a few breaths, her expression turned extremely solemn.
"The Book of Time has emerged."
She walked out of the hall. Qin Yi quickly approached and immediately asked, "Master, has something happened?"
Although he did not know what had occurred, as another Spirit of the Heavenly Book, he too could sense the change.
"The Book of Time has already emerged," the Hall Master of Hongmeng said. "Disciple, your time is short."
Qin Yi’s heart trembled.
"Are you going over?"
The Hall Master of Hongmeng nodded slightly and vanished through time and space, heading toward the ruins of the Fifth Era.
Boom!
Qin Huangluo summoned an ancient zither. Each string struck like a divine sword into the vortex, trying to sever the link between the Book of Time and that eerie force.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
However, his power was too weak; he couldn’t budge it.
"Daoist Friend Zhuge, will you stand idly by?" Qin Huangluo said. "Don’t forget our agreement!"
"Hahaha… Daoist friend, no need to worry," Zhuge Qinmo said.
Zhuge Qinmo reached out his right hand into the void, pulling together chaos, void, and the river of time into a blade of sword energy. Gripping it, he slashed downward.
Boom!
Zhuge Qinmo’s strength far surpassed Qin Huangluo’s. With one stroke, he split the vortex in half, but the Book of Time still couldn’t escape the confinement, wrapped in an unseen power.
"The power of the rules is truly wondrous and boundless," Zhuge Qinmo praised.
He seemed to know the source of that force.
Clang!
Qin Huangluo played the zither, his fingers dancing swiftly. The music surged passionately like myriad soldiers charging across a battlefield. The terrifying killing intent gathered into a sea of swords, totally obliterating the vortex.
The sword energy, thin as silk threads, coiled around the Book of Time and kept slicing at the force of rules.
Zhuge Qinmo narrowed his eyes and pulled out an ancient seal.
The seal radiated an ancient and decaying energy. With a cold laugh, he sent it flying toward the Book of Time.
Whoosh!
In an instant, the seal landed on the book. A deep, cold light, like an abyss, devoured both the book and the rule force, completely suppressing them.
Zhuge Qinmo gestured grandly, and the book dropped into his hand.
Yet, he did not even glance at it before tossing the Book of Time to Qin Huangluo.
"This seal can only imprison it for one month," Zhuge Qinmo laughed. "After one month, the rule power will become even more terrifying."
"One month’s time is sufficient," Qin Huangluo said.
"Daoist friend, is this seal a magic treasure you forged yourself?"
Qin Huangluo gazed at the seal.
It seemed to be a disposable item, but its origin was unfathomable even to Qin Huangluo. Yet, the power of the seal could not be underestimated, as it could seal the rule power.
"That’s a secret," Zhuge Qinmo laughed.
Whoosh!
At that moment, a blue light descended upon the ruins of the Fifth Era. Hall Master of Hongmeng looked at the Book of Time in Qin Huangluo’s hand and appeared quite astonished.
Could they actually seal the rule power?
He knew that his own ability to suppress the Hongmeng Heavenly Scripture relied entirely on Primordial Dao God. Yet these two, mere Dao Ancestor cultivators, could suppress rules, which Hall Master of Hongmeng found unimaginable.
"Junior Sister."
Looking at Hall Master of Hongmeng, Qin Huangluo seemed moved and called out.
"Senior Brother," Hall Master of Hongmeng responded with a bow.
Qin Huangluo was the direct disciple of Primordial Dao God, while she had only received guidance from him; naturally, she could not compare in seniority.
"I thought it was Celestial Lord of Time making the commotion, but it turns out to be Senior Brother," Hall Master of Hongmeng said with a complex expression.
"I want to use the power of the Book of Time to retrieve the past," Qin Huangluo said lightly.
"Senior Brother, although you have temporarily sealed the Book of Time, it cannot last long," Hall Master of Hongmeng said solemnly. "The longer the time scripture is exposed, the stronger the rule power becomes."
"Until one day, the time scripture is completely absorbed by the rules."
"At that time, the yin and yang realms will accelerate their fusion."
Qin Huangluo felt a chill in his heart.
He had also guessed the connection between the time scripture and the yin and yang realms, but Hall Master of Hongmeng’s words still made him feel terrified.
"If Senior Brother cannot suppress the rules, you can ask the teacher for help," Hall Master of Hongmeng added.
"I have discretion in this matter," Qin Huangluo nodded.
"I have never seen this Daoist brother before; may I inquire about him?" Hall Master of Hongmeng looked at Zhuge Qinmo; in her eyes lay a hint of fear.
Zhuge Qinmo’s strength was so formidable that it gave her an intense feeling of pressure.
"I come from the Yuan Emperor Palace in the yin realm; the world knows me as Zhuge Qinmo," he stated.
"So it’s Daoist brother Zhuge," Hall Master of Hongmeng bowed and said.
"Daoist friend Qin, let’s go," Zhuge Qinmo urged.
"Junior Sister, I have pressing matters to attend to, so we’ll meet another time." Qin Huangluo saluted and parted ways, then vanished into the River of Time with Zhuge Qinmo, bound for the Eighth Epoch.
"Zhuge Qinmo…"
The Hall Master of Hongmeng murmured.
That seal held a bizarre, unprecedented power.
It must be known.
The path of heaven is constant.
However, Zhuge Qinmo actually possessed a secret treasure capable of suppressing the power of rules, even if only briefly, which clearly showed his extraordinary nature.
"Daoist friend, why are you sneaking around and hiding?"
The Hall Master of Hongmeng frowned and glanced back at the figure behind him.
A shadowy figure emerged.
The Epochal Celestial Lord had a frosty expression, sneering coldly: "For personal gain, Qin Huangluo forced the Book of Time to emerge ahead of schedule. You’re his fellow disciple, yet you didn’t stop him?"
"Could I have stopped him?"
The Hall Master of Hongmeng replied indifferently.
Seeing the Epochal Celestial Lord, she showed no surprise, as if she had long known he wasn’t the real person.
"Back in the Cold Light Immortal Domain, our master didn’t kill you not because of your background, but because he understood that some things are unavoidable, no matter how hard he tried."
The Hall Master of Hongmeng stated: "The Hongmeng Dao Realm has endured nine eras, and our master was the only one who ascended to Dao One as a postnatal being."
"I trusted his wisdom."
"Hmph!"
The Epochal Celestial Lord scoffed, flicking his sleeve sharply: "Since that’s the case, let’s just die together!"
…
In the Eighth Epoch, the two strolled along the River of Time.
"Daoist friend, you also want the merging of the two realms to find your chance to ascend to Dao One, isn’t that so?" Qin Huangluo suddenly spoke an odd phrase out of nowhere.
"What makes you think that?"
Zhuge Qinmo did not deny it.
"You were the one who told me that memories could be used to reshape the body." Qin Huangluo sighed: "And to retrieve past memories from bygone worlds, with my cultivation, I could only rely on the Book of Time."
"You used my hand to lure out the Book of Time, speeding up the merging of the two realms."
"Hahaha…"
Zhuge Qinmo laughed hysterically, doubling over: "Qin Huangluo, if I truly wanted to hasten the merging for an ascension to Dao One, why bother helping you seize the Book of Time?"
Qin Huangluo frowned.
That reasoning made sense.
"Besides, why wouldn’t I seize it myself directly?"
"I’m not bragging, but if I acted, not a single Dao Ancestor in the yang realm could stop me."
Qin Huangluo pressed on.
"What about Dao One?"
Qin Huangluo asked: "Like my master, for instance."
"Er…"
Zhuge Qinmo was speechless: "He would break the rules if he intervened, absolutely not."
"Why are you so indecisive?"
Zhuge Qinmo complained testily: "Now that you have the Book of Time, if you want your memories back, act now. After a month, I won’t be able to help you."
"Don’t forget our agreement."
"I know."
Qin Huangluo exhaled a puff of Turbid Energy to clear his mind.
No matter what, his goal was already achieved.
"I’ll come see you in a month."
Qin Huangluo left those words, activated the Book of Time, and a mysterious energy enveloped him as he vanished into a past world.
Zhuge Qinmo smiled lightly.
"To reach the next level, the merging of the yin and yang realms offers the best opportunity."
"I’m no idle slacker."
Guiding Qin Huangluo to retrieve the Book of Time had indeed been selfish.
But.
Zhuge Qinmo genuinely wanted to hear Qin Huangluo’s musical skills at their peak, and if he could learn them directly, he might reach the peak himself in that art.
"Qin Huangluo, I helped fulfill your dream, hoping you’ll aid me in settling my own obsession."
Zhuge Qinmo sighed deeply, a puzzled look in his eyes: "I’m a prodigy skilled in everything, so why, in musical skills alone, am I terrible?"
