Chapter 236
by fanqienovelChapter 236: Shui Lingluo vs. Jiang Yingyue (Part 2)
To be precise, this was the first time in Shui Lingluo’s life that she had ever really faced an enemy. She had no idea what to say, so she could only roughly repeat the words Tie Sha and Wen Hou had just spoken.
The woman standing on the stone had now risen to her feet and was looking at Shui Lingluo with surprise. This is an expression everyone wore the first time they witnessed Shui Lingluo stand on water using her water control method. No one on the Spirit Weapon Star, apart from Lou Yun, Chang Xiang, or members of the Shui family themselves, knew there existed someone who had formed a contract with water and could control it naturally!
Faced with Shui Lingluo’s question, the woman was stunned for a moment before replying, "My name is Jiang Yingyue. And who are you?"
"I am Shui Lingluo!"
After stating her name, Shui Lingluo closed her mouth. Unsure of what else to say, she simply stood there, staring at Jiang Yingyue.
Hearing the name Jiang Yingyue, Lou Yun felt a slight sense of relief. At least it wasn’t one of the Jiang family’s younger generation named after their magical weapon. Judging by Jiang Yingyue’s appearance, she looked to be in her early twenties, so her strength probably wasn’t exceptionally high.
While thinking this, Lou Yun simultaneously relayed information about the Jiang family to Shui Lingluo through sound transmission.
Jiang Yingyue scanned Shui Lingluo up and down before asking, "How are you able to stand on the water? Could it be that your magical weapon is a water blossom?"
Shui Lingluo thought for a moment before answering, "My magical weapon isn’t water blossom, but it’s similar. Are you going to fight me? If you are, then let’s start!"
She truly had no combat experience whatsoever, so the words she uttered now sounded somewhat laughable.
Jiang Yingyue indeed clutched her stomach and burst into loud laughter: "Listening to you talk, you sound like a complete novice! Yet you have quite the nerve, daring to fight me? I think you’d better hurry back and let Lou Yun fight me!"
As she spoke, Jiang Yingyue pointed a finger at Lou Yun: "Lou Yun! I heard you are the Lou Family’s most talented and strongest member in history. Yet I never imagined you’d be so cowardly! Too afraid to fight me yourself, so you send this little slip of a girl? Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill her?"
Lou Yun frowned and looked at Wen Hou: "How’s your spiritual energy recovery? Can you protect yourself and Tie Sha now?"
Hearing his words, Wen Hou knew Lou Yun intended to deal with Jiang Yingyue personally himself. He smiled faintly, "I should be able to. But I advise you not to fall for her provocation. Let Miss Shui handle her; she genuinely has a better chance of winning. Don’t forget, even the King of Snake’s six-tailed giant snake was incredibly docile before Miss Shui, let alone this young woman!"
Lou Yun wasn’t actually the type to be easily provoked. He mainly felt Jiang Yingyue had a point; as a grown man, he really shouldn’t let a woman fight on his behalf.
Yet Wen Hou’s words also made sense. After thinking it over, he decided to wait a little longer. As soon as he noticed Shui Lingluo showing any sign of faltering, he would step in immediately. He nodded, placed the unconscious Tie Sha down from his back, and this time Wen Hou said nothing further, clearly understanding Lou Yun’s decision.
Hearing Jiang Yingyue’s words to Lou Yun, Shui Lingluo grew anxious that Lou Yun might truly be provoked into charging over. In a flurry, she pointed a finger. Instantly, a large sphere of water erupted from the lake’s surface and crashed down explosively towards Jiang Yingyue.
Jiang Yingyue clearly hadn’t expected Shui Lingluo to attack so abruptly. A flash of sharp light crossed her eyes as she raised her hand and struck out with her palm. A surge of massive weapon spirit power slammed directly into the water sphere.
"SPLASH!" The water sphere shattered on impact, sending drops spraying in every direction!
Although Jiang Yingyue dodged most of the water droplets, their sheer number and the explosive force propelling them meant some inevitably splashed onto her face and body, soaking a section of her clothes and hair instantly.
However, the water drops splashing onto Shui Lingluo’s body had zero effect. As a natural water controller, only she herself knew why this phenomenon occurred.
This sudden, wordless attack certainly angered Jiang Yingyue, but it also made her dismiss her initial contempt for Shui Lingluo. She had never encountered, nor even heard of, someone who could command natural water to attack with a mere point of the finger. At first, she had thought the water sphere was formed from spiritual energy, but being drenched confirmed it was genuine water!
Jiang Yingyue sneered coldly, "Well, aren’t you something? Little girl, you’re more skilled than I thought. Seems you have feelings for Lou Yun? Otherwise, why fight so desperately for him? Fine! I’ll oblige you!"
These words turned Shui Lingluo’s face crimson red. Embarrassed and furious, she found herself speechless. Instead of replying, she simply raised both hands simultaneously. The lake surface churned with waves, and immediately, two water dragons surged forth, charging towards Jiang Yingyue from her left and right sides.
Having learned her lesson, Jiang Yingyue recognized this as real water. Hastily, she flung the bottle in her hand skyward. It hung suspended upside down in the air. Suddenly, two streams of thick, yellow lines about the width of a wrist erupted violently from its mouth!
One stream shot left, the other shot right!
Lou Yun looked closely and realized they weren’t lines, but countless grains of yellow sand!
The sheer quantity of sand and the extreme speed at which it erupted from the bottle made it appear like a continuous yellow line. The sand formed two yellow sand dragons in the air, which flew directly to intercept the two oncoming water dragons.
"CRASH!"
The four dragons met in mid-air and collided violently. A tremendous blast echoed as they shattered simultaneously. In an instant, sand grains and water droplets filled the sky, obscuring nearly half of it.
Jiang Yingyue suddenly let out an icy laugh. The scattered sand suspended in the air unexpectedly gathered back together, coalescing once more into a single sand dragon that roared and charged at Shui Lingluo.
With Shui Lingluo’s water control ability, even if her water dragon or sphere was shattered, she could undoubtedly reform the water droplets and counterattack immediately, just like Jiang Yingyue. Unfortunately, she hadn’t anticipated this possibility beforehand. Her lack of combat experience meant her reaction speed was no match for Jiang Yingyue’s.
Seeing the sand dragon charging towards her, noticeably thicker than before, a flicker of panic appeared on Shui Lingluo’s face. Her hands hastily began forming seals. Though her reaction was somewhat slow, just as the sand dragon was about to slam into her, a transparent water wall, composed entirely of lake water, abruptly rose from the surface before her.
The sand dragon collided with the water wall in a violent crash and instantly fragmented into scattered sand, falling straight down into the depths of the lake.
Witnessing this scene, Jiang Wuyue and Helian Tiebi gaped in disbelief.
Jiang Wuyue exclaimed, "That girl can control water? What kind of magical weapons master is that? I’ve never heard of such a thing!"
Helian Tiebi, equally shocked, shook his head, "I haven’t seen it either. But forget that little girl! What about those two young men earlier? Where have you seen practitioners that young with such formidable power? Who knows where Lou Yun found these helpers! I say, we absolutely cannot let them leave alive this time! Eliminate them all! Leave none alive!"
Jiang Wuyue glanced at Helian Tiebi and spoke lightly, "Are you confident you can kill them all?"
"Why not?" Helian Tiebi retorted confidently. "That big one is unconscious. The smaller one’s exhausted too – saw him staggering earlier, he’s barely holding on. And even if this girl defeats your clansman, she’ll likely be drained. Hmph! Only Lou Yun would be left then. Can we not handle just one?"
Jiang Wuyue let out a sudden cold laugh. "Defeat a Jiang clansman? Just watch. Yingyue is my sister, but her true strength might be higher than mine. Right now, she’s considered one of the top experts among our Jiang family’s younger generation. Those who can actually defeat her are few!"
"Heh heh!" Helian Tiebi shrugged his shoulders with an obscene grin. "Han Ling Shu and Xiao Qingyu earlier? Weren’t they also the top young talents of their respective families? And what about the results?"
Jiang Wuyue merely snorted coldly and said nothing more.
By the lake shore, the observing Lou Yun and Wen Hou were also murmuring quietly amongst themselves.
Wen Hou spoke with a smile, "Brother Lou, you see? In the water, Miss Shui is practically invincible. Her weakness is only experience. She possesses immense power but doesn’t quite understand when or how to deploy it effectively. Otherwise, Jiang Yingyue would have been defeated already."
"Yeah," Lou Yun agreed, his heart remaining tense. When that sand dragon charged at Shui Lingluo, he almost unleashed his Fusang Fire. Thankfully, she managed to block it herself. "Counting it up, this is truly her first real combat engagement. It’s inevitable she’d be a little flustered."
"Mmh," Wen Hou nodded. "Brother Lou, try to relax your mind too. Miss Shui is very smart. Letting her gain this training experience is good. Being a magical weapons master… well, she isn’t exactly a ‘master,’ but I’m not sure what else to call her… anyway, now that she possesses power, it’s inevitable she will eventually be drawn into battles skirting life and death."
As he spoke these words, a hint of sorrow passed through the smile on Wen Hou’s face. Clearly, he spoke from deep personal experience. He and Tie Sha were people of formidable power themselves. Perhaps they never wanted this life dancing on the knife’s edge, drenched in blood, yet they were helplessly bound to it.
After blocking the sand dragon, Shui Lingluo raised her hands again. This time, four water dragons erupted from the lake surface. Roaring fiercely, they charged towards Jiang Yingyue from all four directions: front, back, left, and right.
Jiang Yingyue shook her head disdainfully, a look of contempt on her face. "Using the same move over and over is pointless! Utterly useless!"
Even as she spoke, the bottle suspended above her head began spewing countless grains of yellow sand once more, splitting decisively into four separate streams that shot forth to meet the four charging water dragons.
"BOOM!"
Eight dragons collided violently in the air, shattering with another tremendous blast! Yet at that very moment, the smug sneer solidified abruptly on Jiang Yingyue’s face!
