Chapter 194
by fanqienovelChapter 194: Who’s Stirring Trouble?
“Good thing you’re unharmed!” Fang Ming sighed in relief, then froze. “You know that dog… Emperor Huan Yan?”
“Yes,” You You nodded. “I met Huan Yan years ago. We’re… friends, I suppose.”
The Immortals: “……” Wonderful. The dog-like Emperor’s gained another ally.
“Actually, the incident involving Third Heavenly Emperor Fang Kun also relates to me.” You You took a deep breath, deciding to lay everything out. “Back then, he aided Yongqing in stealing the divine artifact and tore a soul fragment from Nie Zheng, my Zhen Yan Sect disciple. Later, when we searched the upper realm, I was the one who injured him and destroyed his cultivation. Though Huan Yan imprisoned Fang Kun, he didn’t kill him. Please spare Huan Yan and end this pursuit.”
“Gladly!” Fang Ming answered instantly.
“……” Seriously? No hesitation? What happened to avenging your brother?
You You blinked, then pressed, “I know Fang Kun was your brother. If you have demands or—”
“None needed!” Fang Ming waved hurriedly. “We’ve never gotten along!”
“……” Then why hunt Huan Yan?
Noticing the contradiction, Fang Ming clarified, “Though I loathed that scoundrel Fang Kun, we shared blood. When I heard he’d fallen to treachery and Huan Yan seized Threefold Heaven, I had to investigate. So I went to Second Heavenly Layer, but Huan Yan proved dishonest…”
He frowned, recalling, “Fang Kun’s soul lamp had faded—proof of his death. Yet Huan Yan denied everything, accused me of scheming, claimed I’d already taken Fang Kun to Fourth Heavenly Layer, and barred us from entering! As the Fourth Heavenly Emperor, I couldn’t swallow this grievance. Hence, I stormed Second Heavenly Layer and claimed their Immortal Palace.”
“Hold on!” You You caught the inconsistency. “You’re saying you never sent anyone to retrieve Fang Kun?”
“Absolutely not!” Fang Ming snorted. “Everyone in Fourth Heavenly Layer knows the sight of Fang Kun irritates me. He’s no sister—why would I summon that eyesore?”
“I confirm this!” An Immortal at the door raised a hand. “The Emperor hasn’t spoken to Third Heavenly Emperor in eight millennia!”
“True! Each time Fang Kun was mentioned, His Majesty looked like he’d bitten into rot!”
“I always thought they were mortal enemies!”
“Wait—wasn’t Fang Ming’s betrothed in the lower realm stolen by Fang Kun? He’d even been named husband servant before being swapped out!”
“Ah, so that’s why…”
“Makes sense now…”
“No wonder they clashed!”
Fang Ming: “……”
You You: “……” Well, that escalated.
“Out!” Fang Ming ripped off his jade crown and hurled it at the door. The Immortals dodged effortlessly, feigning solemnity while stubbornly lingering.
These mutts were definitely humiliating him on purpose! After millennia, he finally got to speak to a sister, and they ruined it!
You You pondered. If Fang Ming hadn’t retrieved Fang Kun, yet Huan Yan insisted he had… was someone manipulating both sides?
“Emperor Fang Ming,” she said, “There’s likely a misunderstanding. You should discuss this with Huan Yan directly.”
“Certainly!” Fang Ming agreed instantly, eager to please. “I’ll release Second Heavenly Layer’s Immortals at once!”
The door Immortals: “……” Pathetic simp.
“When shall we meet? Where? What terms? Will you… join us?” Fang Ming leaned forward hopefully.
You You nodded. “Since I’m involved, I’ll attend. As for timing—” She glanced outside. “They’re almost here.”
“What?” Fang Ming stiffened as a thunderous crash shook the ceiling.
“The protective barrier’s breached!” someone shouted.
The Immortals tore their gazes from You You as a phoenix’s cry pierced the air. Above, a fiery phoenix materialized, its flames engulfing the sky and cascading toward the Immortal Palace.
“True Fire of the Phoenix! The Divine Clan!” Fang Ming leapt before You You. “Shield the celestial maiden!”
He summoned his magical tool while others drew weapons.
“Unnecessary!” You You stepped past Fang Ming and called through the window, “Feng Rong! Over here!”
The diving phoenix halted mid-air, morphing into a crimson streak that landed inside as a red-robed man.
“You You!” Feng Rong crushed her in a frantic embrace. “You’re safe?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” She patted his back soothingly.
“Celestial maiden?” Fang Ming stared at Feng Rong’s contract mark, bewildered.
Feng Rong glared, flames flickering in his palms, but You You tugged his sleeve. “It’s a misunderstanding. Where’s Yuan Papa and Huan Yan?”
“You You!” Two more figures flashed in—Yuan Qi and a sheepish Huan Yan.
Yuan Qi scanned You You, relieved. Huan Yan shrank under Fang Ming’s glare but puffed his chest upon seeing You You.
Hmph! His grandpa’s here!
Fang Ming: “……”
The Immortals: “…” Why does this feel like watching a jilted lover?
