Chapter 689
by fanqienovelChapter 689: The Miserable Demon King
When Fang Lie presented his evidence, most present immediately believed him. The Netherworld Ghost Fire warship combined with the formidable Mo Lanyun created an unsolvable dilemma – group attacks merely fed the ghost flames, while dispatching elite fighters only gave Mo Lanyun more targets. Those present reasoned that from the Sea Demon Tribes’ perspective, circumventing this threat made perfect sense unless they violated ancient traditions by deploying Semi-Immortals.
Yet the stakes of an Eighth-Rank High-Grade treasure’s ownership invited trouble. Blue Ancestor of the Ximen family clan scoffed, "What proof is this? A mere skirmish! Could you truly withstand the Sea Demon Tribes’ full assault?"
Purple Ancestor added coldly, "This is your biased account. While appearing confrontational, who can confirm you didn’t secretly collude? The Sea Demons suffered heavy losses yet sought no vengeance – highly suspicious! Do you all believe sea fiends turn merciful?"
This provoked renewed suspicion. The Blood Shark Demon King and Shadow Demon King were core Sea Demon commanders – losing either would enrage their kin. Yet two perished without retaliation, choosing detour over vengeance. Strange indeed.
"Baseless conjecture!" Abbot Mountain Man retorted. "Fang Lie provides evidence while you spout groundless accusations!"
Sword Ancestor of Penglai mocked, "Fabricating charges to deny defeat – how typical."
"Shameless!" Blood River Emperor spat. Unlike neutral sects maintaining decorum, the Demonic Path lord relished this chance to provoke. White Bone Divine Demon joined gleefully, "So even mighty East Kunlun fears defeat?"
"Who fears losing?" Ao Jianzi shouted. "We demand clarity! Fang Lie remains suspect – how can we accept this?"
As Abbot Mountain Man and Sword Ancestor of Penglai prepared retorts, two terrifying auras erupted alongside thunderous roars:
"Fang Lie! Come die!"
"Mo Qianxun’s brat! Show yourself!"
The Top Ten Semi-Immortals gaped – why would Sea Emperors attack post-Sea Demon Disaster?
Fang Lie’s eyes glittered. "Conceal your presences." The human Semi-Immortals nodded, understanding his trap. Though many disliked Fang Lie, tribal loyalty prevailed.
Retaining Mo Lanyun and Mao Mao, Fang Lie summoned a blood clone that vanished instantly. Activating the protective array, he projected the confrontation through a water screen.
Three figures stood miles apart – Fang Lie facing a black-muscled brute and robed cultivator.
"Iron Shark Demon King! Malice Demon King!" someone identified.
Fang Lie demanded coolly, "State your purpose."
"To kill you!" Iron Shark Demon King growled. "My generals’ blood demands repayment!"
Malice Demon King sneered, "Next life, remember – ants shouldn’t provoke dragons!"
"You swore noninterference during Sea Demon Disaster after losing the Competition Method!" Fang Lie accused. "Do Sea Emperors break oaths?"
Iron Shark roared laughter. "Fool! Our pact covered the Disaster period. Now it’s ended – we hunt freely!"
Fang Lie chuckled bitterly. "My naivety astounds. Expecting oath-keeping from sea curs? If dogs abandoned carrion, they’d cease being dogs. My youthful folly!"
"You brat, didn’t expect you to keep mouthing off while facing death!" Iron Shark Demon King’s face flushed red from Fang Lie’s insults. "Let me show you your fate!" He swung his arm, conjuring a hundred-zhang giant claw that lunged forward.
Fang Lie tried to escape but froze when discovering the surrounding space had been sealed – no flight, no teleportation. Only then did he grasp the chasm between Semi-Immortals and himself. Complete helplessness!
Refusing surrender, Fang Lie knew capture meant disaster. Without hesitation, he triggered a secret method to destroy his clone.
Iron Shark Demon King’s claw closed on empty air. "Damn brat’s got tricks!" he growled as flames consumed Fang Lie’s vanishing form.
"The monk can flee but not his temple," Malice Demon King sneered. "We’ll crush Qingyu Island!"
"Done!" Iron Shark Demon King agreed. Both vanished, reappearing above Qingyu Island.
Meanwhile, tension thickened in the island’s great hall. All eyes mocked the Ximen family Founders and East Kunlun’s Ao Jianzi. These accusers had claimed Fang Lie colluded with Sea Demon Tribes… until Sea Tribe Semi-Immortals came attacking. Their hypocrisy hung heavier than stormclouds.
The Ximen family and East Kunlun delegates burned with shame, yearning to vanish. Salvation came unexpectedly – two Sea Emperor auras erupted overhead.
Confident in overwhelming strength, the Demon Kings took no precautions. "Human worms!" Iron Shark bellowed. "Grovel before us!"
"Surrender treasures and beauties," Malice added, "or become my supper!"
This provocation ignited the Ximen Founders’ smoldering rage. Blue Ancestor growled "Insolent filth!" unleashing azure Sword Energy. Purple Ancestor echoed "Stay forever!" hurling violet blades.
Other Semi-Immortals seized this chance for a coordinated ambush. Maintaining dignified poses, they flicked wrists – deceptively plain attacks concealing lethal Ultimate Skills. At their level, simplicity masked annihilation. Each strike could erase life across ten thousand miles.
The Sea Emperors recognized the danger too late. Ten beams pierced them – surface unscathed, inner devastation. Twin howls shook the skies as they reverted to true forms: iron-scaled shark and colossal octopus, once impervious to Eighth-Rank Treasures. Now fissures split their hides, golden-veined blood raining down. Iron Shark lost an eye; both vomited organ chunks.
Without wasting breath, the maimed Emperors fled as light-trails. They understood – this was mercy. True onslaught would’ve meant death. But Humans couldn’t risk full war before entering Sea Demon territory. Wounding fools? Permissible. Killing Sea Emperors? An invitation for endless vengeance.
