    Chapter 662: The Despicable Traitor

Mo Lanfan’s wrinkled face darkened. He protested bitterly, "Do you think I care about mere candy? Little sister! I care about our family bond! How could you treat me this way?"

"Enough!" Fang Lie interrupted his poor acting, speaking gravely. "Two choices. First: confess everything. You’ve swallowed the spirit pill anyway. With your status, proper confession means execution’s off the table – worst case, demotion to workshop master in Mo Sect. Second: keep resisting. Then I’ll send you to Ancestral Hall. Know what that means? Best scenario: lifelong imprisonment in Ice Pond. Worst: destroyed cultivation and slow death. Choose now."

Mo Lanfan paled, sweat beading on his forehead.

Mo Lanyun snapped impatiently, "Cousin! Brother Fang’s offering this path for survival through my begging. You’d choose death? Or think we can’t prove your crimes?"

"The Ancestral Hall uses soul search techniques," Mao Mao added. "With Brother Fang’s position and our joint recommendation, sect rules allow forced soul searching on Wind Tribulation Immortals like you."

"I confess!" Mo Lanfan collapsed to his knees. As Fang Lie said, confession meant survival. Though being confined as workshop master meant endless labor with no freedom, it beat Ice Pond imprisonment or losing his cultivation.

Fang Lie’s trio held positions rivaling Thunder Tribulation Immortals. Their combined authority could indeed force soul searches. Failure meant punishment for them, but success brought rewards. With guilt crushing him, resistance proved futile.

    "Speak," Fang Lie demanded, unsurprised.

Mo Lanyun’s last hope died, leaving only disappointment.

Avoiding her gaze, Mo Lanfan muttered, "I… I meant to retire peacefully here. But six months after arrival, while visiting a brothel…"

Mo Lanyun hurled her tea cup. "You decaying old lecher! Visiting brothels at your age?"

High-ranking Cultivators avoided brothels – sharing women with commoners shamed great family clans. Though having multiple concubines was acceptable, Mo family members shouldn’t wallow in such filth.

Mo Lanfan deflected the tea with magic. Fang Lie curiously asked, "My island has brothels? Names? Locations?"

    Twin glares pierced him.

    "Don’t answer!" Mo Lanyun ordered.

Mao Mao pouted, "If you need company, ask Mi Qing or Little Peach Red!"

"Just curious!" Fang Lie raised defensive hands as Mo Lanyun threatened, "Visit one and we’ll neuter you!"

Clearing his throat, Fang Lie gestured for Mo Lanfan to continue.

"There… a mysterious man offered Ninth-Rank lifespan spirit pills for my cooperation."

"I-I just couldn’t resist!" Mo Lanfan said weakly. "My lifespan’s short—only thirty to fifty years left—but that Ninth-Rank Life-Extension Pill offered five centuries! How could I refuse?"

"Not the time for excuses," Fang Lie cut in coldly. "What’s that person’s background?"

"I swear I don’t know!" Mo Lanfan pleaded. "He stood before me, spoke with me, yet his face stayed blurred and voice unmemorable. His cultivation must’ve dwarfed mine, using divine sense to overwhelm my senses!"

"Anyone wielding Ninth-Rank pills would be Thunder Tribulation Immortal tier. No wonder you saw nothing." Fang Lie’s tone sharpened. "But stolen treasure intel alone isn’t worth such payment. What else did you trade?"

"Exactly!" Mo Lanyun pressed. "The looted treasures combined couldn’t match that pill’s value. What else did you promise?"

"Initially just treasure sale details," Mo Lanfan admitted. "But after targets teleported away, he demanded… demanded I…" He trailed off, sweating.

Fang Lie’s eyes narrowed. "Out with it."

"He ordered me to kill Mao San and Gou Si—or at least replace them with my men!"

"Who names people ‘Cat Three Dog Four’?" Mo Lanyun giggled.

Fang Lie’s aura turned murderous. "Those loyal stewards managed my estates and White Jade Divine Fish since my early days here. I entrusted their care to all successors!" His glare pinned Mi Qing and Little Peach Red.

Both women remained calm. "We’ve honored Third and Fourth Masters as Qingyu Island’s true administrators," Mi Qing stated. "They still oversee the White Jade Divine Tower."

    "The Tower?" Mo Lanyun asked.

"Where White Jade Divine Fish are cooked daily for approved guests," Mi Qing explained. "Only Tower Masters handle the sacred fish—even Mo Sect members can’t approach them."

Mo Lanyun whirled on Mo Lanfan. "Replace them, steal the fish—that was your scheme!"

    "I was coerced!" he protested.

"With the pill already eaten?" Mo Lanyun scoffed. "You got greedy!"

"They threatened to expose me! Hundreds died from my leaks—including great family clan heirs! Even Mo Sect couldn’t shield me then!"

"Fool!" Mo Lanyun spat. "How’d our Mo family spawn such an idiot?"

Mo Lanfan shriveled under her scorn.

Fang Lie turned to Mi Qing. "What happened?"

"Elder Mo harassed them for years—public humiliations, beatings," she murmured. "Only our intervention kept them alive."
