Chapter 824
by fanqienovelChapter 824: The Demon God Appears
Soon, Ye Yun sensed a strange aura approaching from the outside world, as if murky and foul energies were slowly descending upon this land. He felt puzzled—such an aura could only signify one thing in his knowledge: a demon creature that had reached the demon god realm. Yet the Devil Race should still remain sealed. How had they broken through?
“This is bad!” Before Ye Yun could react, An Shuiyan’s face paled, clearly sensing the ominous shift. The once-clear sky darkened rapidly. Though Shui Lingling didn’t fully grasp the situation, she knew their current predicament left no room for recklessness.
“So this… is the mortal realm?” A cold, terrifying voice echoed as a massive face materialized in the sky, gazing indifferently at Tianling City’s azure barrier. As the figure shrank, a humanoid form cloaked in layers of demonic energy gradually revealed itself.
An Shuiyan stared at the demonic presence, baffled. The Demon Realm’s passage should still be sealed within the Celestial-Demon battlefield. How had a demon god realm entity appeared? Even the city’s protective array would struggle to withstand such a foe.
“Boom!”
“How stubborn.” The demon god remarked coolly as a casual surge of demonic energy collided with the barrier. He knew the Tianling Immortal Array’s power, but having escaped the Celestial-Demon battlefield, he craved blood to nourish his form. His gaze fell on An Shuiyan and the others. “Surrender now, or shall I shatter this array and drain your essence blood?”
“Ling’er, flee if things turn dire. I can hold the array briefly,” An Shuiyan urged, buying time.
“No! You’ll die! I won’t let you!” Shui Lingling bit her lip, refusing to accept An Shuiyan’s sacrifice.
The situation had spiraled beyond expectations. If the demon god breached the array, their deaths would be instant. Yet Shui Lingling stood her ground.
“Staying any longer is pointless,” Ye Yun said flatly.
“Ye Yun! How can you say that?” Shui Lingling staggered back, hurt.
“Such matters should be left to men, no?” Ye Yun chuckled, patting her head. Before she could react, he transformed her into a white streak of light, vanishing her from sight. Turning to An Shuiyan and Shui Yingying, he added, “Hand me control of the Tianling Immortal Array. We might not win, but we can stall.”
“You’d truly do this?” An Shuiyan asked, surprised by his calm resolve.
“What choice remains?” Ye Yun replied, aware the Ancestor would bear the true burden. When An Shuiyan silently handed over her jade ring, Shui Yingying remained steadfast. Ye Yun sighed. “Leave now. Ling’er would grieve if you fell.”
“If you perish, two hearts will break,” Shui Yingying countered softly, determined to stay.
“Stubborn…” Ye Yun moved instantly, knocking her unconscious before she could resist. As she slumped, he passed her to An Shuiyan. “I’ll handle the rest.”
“Should you survive, I’ll repay this debt,” An Shuiyan said, though her words rang hollow even to herself. Reluctantly, she chose to trust him.
“Survival isn’t my concern,” Ye Yun muttered, watching An Shuiyan depart with Qing Li and Shui Yingying. Qing Li’s lingering glance spoke volumes. Sensing the demon god’s gaze, Ye Yun teleported before him, trembling under the oppressive aura. “Do you recall me?”
“Why would I remember an ant?” the demon god sneered.
Studying the demon god’s soul—restored but bodiless—Ye Yun smirked. “The Heavenly Demon in the Celestial Tower lacked your arrogance.”
“You’ve met Lord Heavenly Demon?” The demon god’s composure cracked. “How?!”
“When I killed him. Borrowed his essence, but ending you won’t be hard.” Ye Yun activated the jade ring, unleashing the Tianling Immortal Array’s purifying light. Yet the radiance only weakened the demon god’s aura slightly.
“Pathetic. You thought this could harm me?” the demon god mocked.
“First time seeing such arrogance,” Ye Yun retorted before his consciousness faded. Darkness enveloped him, revealing the Ancestor confronting the demon god.
“A dual soul? How… novel,” the demon god spat.
“Your end is all that matters,” the Ancestor replied, cautiously wielding Ye Yun’s body. Mastering the two extremes of the Sword Path, he summoned twin Immortal Swords. “It’s been ages since I slaughtered demons.”
“You killed Lord Heavenly Demon!” the demon god roared. “You’ll pay!”
“Silence.” The Ancestor’s blade surged, overwhelming the demon god’s soul with crushing Soul Power. Yet the strike met unnatural resistance.
“Recovered well, haven’t you?” the Ancestor mused, sensing approaching Demon Race forces. He pressed the attack.
“Hah! I ruled the Celestial-Demon battlefield before your birth!” the demon god retorted, retreating as his soul risked disintegration.
With the demon god gone, the Ancestor crushed the encroaching horde using mental intent before withdrawing, exhausted.
“What happened?” Ye Yun asked, noting the Ancestor’s weakness.
“Soul clashes take tolls,” the Ancestor rasped. “Inform the Immortal Dao Sect. Without reinforcements at the Celestial-Demon battlefield, more will break free.”
Ye Yun clenched his fists. Had the Ancestor fallen… Guilt gnawed at him. He pushed it aside, focusing on reuniting with Shui Lingling—sent ten miles away and marked with the two extremes of the Sword Path’s seal. If the wounded demon god found her, the trap would spring.
