Chapter 781: Women of the Immortal Dao

"Selfishness, I did have some issues." Remembering his mindset back then, Ye Yun couldn’t help but chuckle. Noticing Qing Li’s puzzled look, he calmly said, "Let’s visit an old acquaintance. Conceal your aura to avoid alerting those old men."

"Understood. Qing Li will be cautious." She swiftly reactivated the techniques Ye Yun had taught her. As space distorted around them, majestic spatial laws enveloped the pair. The crushing pressure looming over them dissolved instantly when Ye Yun waved his hand.

Ye Yun gazed at the towering Immortal Palace ahead. Its striking resemblance to Shui Lingling’s palm-sized snowy city—now magnified infinitely—had caught his eye immediately from the sky.

Approaching the Immortal Dao Sect’s entrance, he spotted dozens of white-robed disciples struggling to enter. He walked over and asked, "What happened here?"

A wounded female cultivator gestured weakly at her comrades. "We were ambushed by demons while gathering sect materials. Failed the mission and returned injured."

Though injured, the woman studied Ye Yun warily. "If you enter without authorization, we’ll treat you as an intruder. Only disciples may pass freely." Her group, mostly Golden Core stage cultivators, tensed when they noticed Ye Yun’s peak Seventh Level Nascent Soul cultivation.

"Could you inform Shui Lingling that an old friend seeks her?" Ye Yun said mildly, unfazed by their suspicion.

"Senior Sister Shui Lingling?" The woman relaxed slightly. A Nascent Soul cultivator had no reason to deceive them. She instructed her companions to wait and hurried into the sect.

"Senior, do you truly know Senior Sister Shui Lingling?" A young disciple blurted. They found it hard to believe someone appearing younger than them could associate with their sect’s legendary figure.

"Does she hold such prestige here?" Ye Yun chuckled.

"Of course! Senior Sister Shui Lingling reached the Third Level of Earth Immortal realm after Elder Brother Pei Yunshan fell in the Celestial-Demon battlefield. None among the second-generation disciples rival her now," another disciple declared proudly, eyes shining with reverence reminiscent of Shui Lingling’s past admiration for Pei Yunshan.

"Pity about Elder Brother Pei," someone sighed. "He was our strongest."

"Perhaps he erred gravely," Ye Yun remarked.

The disciple shrugged. "Regardless, Senior Sister Shui Lingling leads us well—arguably better than Elder Brother Pei." Though they respected the deceased, survival mattered more with the Devil Race growing bolder.

The female cultivator soon returned, her demeanor respectful. "Senior Sister awaits you at the Star God Hall."

Ye Yun let the injured group enter first. "I’m in no rush," he said, watching the true qi realm disciples chat despite their wounds.

"Star God Hall? No guide?" Ye Yun muttered upon entering the vast sect grounds. The dispersing disciples left him stranded.

"Ancestor, know the way?" he asked while admiring the scenic mountains and lakes.

"Only familiar with bathing spots here," the Ancestor grumbled.

Ye Yun frowned at the deserted paths. "Where is everyone?"

"Water flows nearby," the Ancestor suddenly said.

    "Where?"

"Your chance—grab it." The Ancestor fell silent after pointing the direction.

Following the sound through artificial hills, Ye Yun froze at the sight ahead. Qing Li hastily shut her eyes.

Amidst rising mist, a woman rinsed herself in a pool. Sensing intruders, she turned sharply, icy glare locking onto Ye Yun. Starlight coalesced into a shimmering Immortal Garment around her as she stood. A towering Water Column erupted behind her, morphing into a coiled Water Spirit Dragon whose oppressive aura choked the air.

"Who are you?" Her voice pierced like winter frost.

"Ye Yun, a wandering cultivator." He forced a smile. "I seek Shui Yingying and Shui Lingling but lost my way."

"I’m far older than you," she retorted coldly, though her tone softened slightly at the names. "Remember this: speak of what you saw, and I’ll shatter your ribs."

"Understood." Ye Yun nodded, relieved she hadn’t attacked. Her Eighth Level Earth Immortal cultivation far surpassed his.

As she strode past, he glimpsed her blushing ears. "Just her back," he muttered without thinking.

The woman whirled, eyes blazing. "You dare comment?!"

Ye Yun coughed awkwardly. The Ancestor’s chuckle echoed in his mind: "Regretting only seeing her back, eh?"

"Ancestor, this nearly killed me!" Ye Yun hissed.

"Youth today…" The Ancestor sighed. "At least you got a free show."

The woman’s cheeks flushed deeper. "Follow. Quietly."

Suppressing a grin, Ye Yun trailed her toward the Star God Hall, the Water Spirit Dragon glaring at his every step.
