Chapter 772
by fanqienovelChapter 772: The Slumbering Demon Race
"If I told you this was all a misunderstanding, would you believe me?" Ye Yun held the Purple Shadow Divine Sword glowing with teal light, smiling faintly at the colossal figure before him.
"Oh?" The goat-headed beast king lowered its head until its snout nearly touched Ye Yun, hot breath washing over him. Golden pupils rotated before fixing on Ye Yun. "Do you think this king would believe that?"
"Seems not." Ye Yun swung his sword without hesitation. Multiple sword arcs shot toward the beast king, who merely shut its eyes and absorbed the Sword Energy. When its eyes reopened, it mocked, "How pathetic—you thought to capture this king?"
"Pathetic or not, I’ll still try. Otherwise, there’d be no chance at all." Ye Yun chuckled. The Purple Shadow Divine Sword hummed as hidden Thunder Spirit Power gathered beneath its Blade Body. A teal-blue sword arc charged with heavenly tribulation’s thunderous power shot out with a deafening roar. The beast king’s smirk vanished as it whipped its dragon tail to shatter the attack.
Noticing the spatial laws radiating from Ye Yun, it growled coldly, "Disturb this king’s peace again, and the next warning won’t be gentle."
"Next time, I’ll hang your head from my sword." Ye Yun turned his back, vanishing just as the enraged Eighth-Level Great Demon King slammed its claws into the magma river, sending waves of demon energy roaring skyward.
Nearby demons trembled at their king’s fury, fearing their hard-earned cultivation might be erased. Other beast kings watched curiously—what could make the vicious Lava Sea King erupt so violently?
"Didn’t expect a nap to summon a Great Demon King. Startled me," the Ancestor remarked drily once safe. "Clever creature, though. Knew it couldn’t stop you, yet tried to assert dominance. Shame you shut it down so thoroughly."
"Demons remain dull-witted. Insults only rouse mindless rage—they’re slaves to base instincts." Ye Yun shrugged. To him, demons were laughable creatures ruled by petty desires.
"True, their foundations can’t match humanity’s. Their fatal flaw? They’ll never unite. Too consumed by primal urges." The Ancestor snorted. "Imagine if they cooperated—their numbers alone would overwhelm us."
"Which is why humanity survived its vulnerable era. Had they united earlier, we’d have perished before growing strong," Ye Yun said.
"Don’t dismiss all demons. Fox and rat demons lack combat power but possess sharp intelligence. They control their greed—tricky foes."
"Yet they hold no sway among demons. Power rules their kind. Without strength, they’re irrelevant." Ye Yun glanced at Qing Li, who stood catching her breath beside him. "Scared of that goat?"
"A little… But mostly disgusted. His aura’s impure compared to our Devil Race’s, weaker than yours too. Master could defeat him!" Qing Li insisted.
"You flatter me. At Nascent Soul stage, slaying such a demon would make me legendary." Ye Yun laughed.
"Master shouldn’t fear it! That beast is sealed by a Barrier—not as strong as Demon Realm’s, but it traps him here. The seal’s power of laws came from multiple sources, specifically targeting local demons. Such creatures can’t truly harm you."
"Sharp senses, Qing Li." Ye Yun smiled. "But I didn’t flee from fear. I came to retrieve a lost friend."
Following his gaze, Qing Li spotted a black figure radiating intense spiritual power. She retreated behind Ye Yun. "Is that… the same person from before?"
"Has his aura changed so much?" Ye Yun sheathed his sword. The approaching figure revealed bloodstains. "Tianxiao! You fought demons?"
"Wanted to hunt small demons, but two Seventh-Level beast kings ambushed me!" Mo Tianxiao grimaced. "They teamed up—would’ve died without my Immortal Sword."
"Surviving’s what matters. Pride can wait." Ye Yun clapped his shoulder.
"You’d understand if you faced them! They manipulate demon energy to corrode defenses. I was holding ground until their sneak attack." Mo Tianxiao sighed.
"Wounding you proves their skill. Expected, given our races’ blood feud." Ye Yun grew thoughtful—he’d need countermeasures if they crossed paths again.
"Next time, I’ll slaughter them. For now, I’ll trail this magma flow, hoping to find lone Seventh-Level demons."
"That Great Sky Teleportation Array malfunctioned, separating us. Together, we’d have crushed those Flame Rat mutants. Letting them live risks human lives." Mo Tianxiao scowled.
"Then let’s eliminate them now. Two Seventh-Level targets checked off at once." Ye Yun nodded.
"Really?!" Mo Tianxiao brightened. "With your help, those rats will regret existing!"
"Master, provoking them isn’t wise! Better find isolated targets." Qing Li tugged Ye Yun’s sleeve.
"Same effort, less time. Trust me—I’ve prepared countermeasures." He patted her head. "But hide well. They’d terrify you."
"Qing Li isn’t scared!" She flushed, pouting.
"Those rats are tracking Tianxiao, thinking him easy prey," the Ancestor’s voice chuckled in Ye Yun’s sea of consciousness. "How unfortunate… for them."
"Killers shouldn’t complain when killed," the Ancestor added. "They’ll arrive soon. Hide."
"Tianxiao, the rats are coming. Lure them into talking—I’ll ambush from behind." Ye Yun gestured.
"Brother Ye’s spirit perception spans this far? Impressive!" Mo Tianxiao grinned fiercely. "Let’s teach them human cruelty."
"Humanity’s wrath awaits." Ye Yun hid himself, Qing Li clinging to his back. Her attempts to mask her aura failed, so she relied on his concealing array—a variant of the Great Sky Teleportation Array fused with local environmental laws.
"Now, we wait." Ye Yun watched Mo Tianxiao heal with Immortal Spirit Stones.
"HA! FOUND YOU, COWARD!!"
Two shrill voices screeched across the scorched plains as Mo Tianxiao steadied his sword.
