Chapter 719
by fanqienovelChapter 719: Demon Land
“Yingying, what is the difference between the Three Celestial Heavens and the Seven Demon Heavens? Why do I sense a separation between the two from afar?” Ye Yun voiced his curiosity while traveling with Shui Yingying and Shui Lingling toward the Three Celestial Heavens. He felt the overwhelming pressure, as if everything around him was fragile enough to be shattered by that might.
“Sister, let’s pause for a moment. We three are unfamiliar with this place, and if we proceed recklessly, it could lead to mistakes,” Shui Lingling suggested, glancing around. She noticed Ye Yun’s puzzled expression and continued, “In fact, the Seven Demon Heavens and the Three Celestial Heavens are not too different; they just possess various inheritances. While some suit Ling’er, they might not suit you, Sister. The reverse holds true as well.”
“So, the Seven Demon Heavens serves as the treasure left by the demon gods opposing the Heavenly Immortals?” Ye Yun asked, the name conjuring unpleasant associations.
This elicited a melodious laugh. “Hehe, you know nothing about the Broken Space! Both the Seven Demon Heavens and Three Celestial Heavens are inheritances left by the Heavenly Immortals, though with some… unfortunate ties.”
“Unfortunate ties?” Ye Yun frowned.
“Ling’er, how could Ye Yun understand your riddles?” Shui Yingying sighed, tapping her forehead. “It seems you came to the Broken Space merely to rely on luck. No wonder you lack a supreme Immortal artifact for soul protection.”
“Even I can’t hoard supreme Immortal artifacts like cabbages on a street!” Ye Yun replied with a wry smile.
His words held a flaw: he did possess such artifacts but hadn’t bonded them. After escaping the fifth layer of the Xumi Treasure, these artifacts ignored him. Forcing ownership would provoke resistance. Patience was needed—or destruction.
Ye Yun chose patience. So far, he’d bonded the blue heart stone pendant and the Water Spirit Dagger, which channeled Heavenly Immortal rules. Both were docile. The others, however, remained aloof, demanding Earth Immortal realm strength. Crushing their intelligence to downgrade them to top-quality Immortal artifacts would be a loss. Better to wait and negotiate later.
At least they weren’t like the Fire Dragon Whip, which craved its master’s blood. For now, neutrality sufficed.
“The Three Celestial Heavens,” Shui Yingying explained, “were forged by three Heavenly Immortals. Entering grants unimaginable opportunities. The foremost, Master of Slash Immortals, once slew three demon gods alone.” Her eyes shone with awe. Such power surpassed mortal limits.
“A title well-earned,” Ye Yun murmured, admiration in his gaze.
“The second is the Master of Nine Palaces, who perished after slaying two demon gods. His sect, Nine Palaces Heaven, remains reclusive, perhaps still recovering,” Shui Yingying continued.
Shui Lingling leaned in, curious. “Who’s the third Heavenly Immortal?”
“All who reach the Heavenly Immortal realm are exceptional. Comparisons are meaningless.” Ye Yun tapped her head playfully.
“Focus!” Shui Yingying chided. “The third sealed a demon god using his essence blood as the seal’s core, erasing it from the Broken Space.”
Ye Yun’s chest tightened. “Such sacrifice… I wonder if I’ll ever embody such resolve.”
“Countless perished in the Immortal-Demon War, their names lost,” Shui Yingying said bitterly. “Yet traitors thrived. Those who resisted paid dearly.”
“As for the Seven Demon Heavens,” she added, “they hold demon souls sealed by Ninth Level Earth Immortal cultivators—those nearly Heavenly Immortals who sacrificed themselves.” She fell silent, knowing some truths needed no elaboration.
“Grand words from clueless youngsters,” scoffed the Ancestor of the Sword Path’s voice in Ye Yun’s mind.
“Their motives may differ, but their deeds saved this realm,” Ye Yun countered inwardly.
“Yingying, Ling’er, your jade tablet maps are accurate? This dead air grows thicker,” Ye Yun said aloud, uneasy.
“The Sect Leader gave these. The nearing dead air means we approach our destination,” Shui Yingying replied, shielding her senses with Nascent Soul-stage cultivation.
Shui Lingling’s Stellar Body repelled the dead air effortlessly. Ye Yun and Shui Yingying huddled close, drawing her ire. “Why cling to me?”
“Can’t I cherish you?” Ye Yun ruffled her hair.
“You never comfort me when I’m bullied!” she huffed, though secretly pleased.
Shui Yingying smiled. Ling’er’s purity dispelled darkness, and Ye Yun’s gaze remained unclouded—proof of their bond.
“Sister, why have our enemies left us alone since we got the jade tablet?” Shui Lingling asked.
“They know they can’t hinder you now,” Shui Yingying lied gently.
Ye Yun understood their plight. Without the Sect Leader’s direct intervention, their allies were few against centuries-old schemers.
“Look! Black bugs!” Shui Lingling giggled, using spirit perception to harass their queen.
“Bullying the weak isn’t befitting,” Ye Yun chided, freeing the queen. Grateful, she fled with her swarm.
“They’re just bugs! If they became beasts, they’d kill us first!” Shui Lingling argued.
“True, but growth requires empathy,” Ye Yun said, tucking a strand of her hair. She pouted but let it go, her playful cruelty unchecked.
