Chapter 949
by fanqienovelChapter 949: Large Postnatal Spiritual Treasure
The power erupting from the arena where Xu Gang stood instantly caught the attention of many true immortals.
They all gathered outside Xu Gang’s spatial arena.
“That’s a disciple from an Immortal Sect; he’s only a Quasi-Immortal, yet he dares to challenge a true immortal who just returned from the battlefield,” remarked a knowledgeable true immortal.
“The defending true immortal is from the Battle Suppression Army of the Outer Wind Hall of the Tianding Merchant Association. He’s just back from the battlefield, and his fighting strength is at its peak right now.”
“If this Immortal Sect disciple can defeat him, he might even secure a Grade B contract with the Tianding Merchant Association.”
As the true immortals chatted, Xu Fan also arrived at the arena.
The blood-red giant blade sliced through ten layers of defensive techniques from the thousand-hand illusion, but another layer blocked it from behind.
In an instant, the giant arrows of yin and yang, gathered by Xu Gang, were about to strike Li Yun.
A massive surge of energy erupted from Li Yun, and a blade light that seemed capable of annihilating all creation slashed toward the giant arrows.
When the two forces collided, the protective shield around the spatial arena began to tremble violently, on the verge of shattering.
The watching true immortals quickly backed away, fearing the combat backlash if the shield broke.
The sheer force of the clash forced Li Yun to retreat three steps, and he cautiously eyed the thousand-hand illusion.
Seeing Li Yun’s retreat, a flicker of disappointment crossed Xu Gang’s eyes.
The thousand-hand illusion formed seals, and in a flash, hundreds of giant arrows of yin and yang materialized around it.
Like a rapid-fire crossbow, the arrows shot one after another toward Li Yun.
Just as Xu Gang thought the battle was over, he sensed an impossibly fast blade light strike the thousand-hand illusion.
The blade light shattered all of Xu Gang’s defenses and struck what seemed to be his true form.
The thousand-hand illusion disintegrated, and a weakened Li Yun stared at the shattered illusion.
But just as he thought victory was his, another thousand-hand illusion appeared.
It followed the same pattern, layering itself with defensive techniques before gathering more giant arrows of yin and yang, ready to fire again.
“Good strategy and timing. If you’d hit my true form, you might’ve won,” Xu Gang said, offering a kind-hearted lie.
If the blade had struck his true form, it would have had to break through his protective celestial tool, outer armor, and inner armor first.
All three celestial tools were defensive artifacts meticulously crafted by Xu Fan with the help of Number One and Number Two avatars.
“I concede,” Li Yun declared decisively. Having used his strongest technique, he knew he was at a disadvantage.
“Congratulations, friend, on successfully challenging the arena,” said a little supervisor from the Tianding Merchant Association as he approached.
He presented a Quasi-Immortal artifact, a bottle of elixirs to aid true immortal stage cultivation, and a contract agreement.
“To defeat a Battle Suppression Army cultivator with Quasi-Immortal cultivation—which Immortal Sect’s Genius Disciple are you?” the little supervisor asked politely.
“Hidden Spirit Sect, Xu Gang,” Xu Gang replied.
“Ah! The first disciple of the Grand Elder of Hidden Spirit Island. I’d love to meet the Grand Elder. Where might he be?” The supervisor’s tone warmed upon hearing the name Hidden Spirit Sect.
“My master is at the sect, but his exact location isn’t something I can share,” Xu Gang said.
He wasn’t lying—Xu Fan’s true form was indeed in the sect. Only Avatar Number Three had come.
"That’s a shame! But Xu, would you be interested in joining our Tianding Merchant Association? You’d get 50,000 Immortal Jade a year, plus another 50,000 Immortal Jade to trade for all sorts of cultivation resources," the little supervisor said eagerly.
"Complete tasks for us, and there are extra rewards," he added.
"No thanks, just give me the rewards. I don’t like leaving the sect," Xu Gang replied, mainly because he didn’t want to leave his master.
"In that case, Xu Gang, you could become a Level One VIP with us. You’d get benefits whether you’re buying, selling, or taking on tasks," the little supervisor explained the perks of being a Level One VIP.
Seeing no downside, Xu Gang agreed. Besides the rewards, he also got a communication artifact, phone-sized, to contact the Tianding Merchant Association anytime.
After collecting his items, Xu Gang went back to Xu Fan.
"Good job! Your fighting style now feels more refined, not just wild attacks like before," Xu Fan complimented with a smile.
"All thanks to your teaching, Master," Xu Gang smiled, pleased with the praise.
Just then, the other two disciples returned, both having tied their matches and received Grade B contracts from the Tianding Merchant Association, but neither accepted.
"Master, it seems the Tianding Merchant Association has info on our sect," Wang Xiangchi mentioned curiously.
"Is that so surprising?"
"The biggest merchant association in the human race’s Immortal Realm should have that kind of capability," Xu Fan said, unsurprised.
"Grapes, feeling any pressure here?" Xu Fan asked cheerfully.
"None at all. I had a great chat with the spirit of the postnatal Spiritual Treasure, Yun Palace. He shared all the free basic info from the Tianding Merchant Association," Grape replied.
"The database is getting an update," Grape added, sounding both happy and a bit envious.
"No wonder the Tianding Merchant Association is so successful; even their spirits are friendly!"
The Hidden Spirit Sect owed them a small favor.
"Master, I got some info about the celestial spirit ruin world from the spirit," Grape continued.
"Millions of years ago, this was probably a branch of an Immortal Sect, destroyed by invaders."
"The celestial spirit ruin world was well hidden, only recently revealed."
"Legends say at its peak, the Immortal Sect had four Great Luo Saints and over a hundred Golden Immortals."
"That’s why major powers think this world might have large postnatal Spiritual Treasures."
Xu Fan nodded, understanding why so many were drawn here.
"Many are probably still hiding. When the ruins open, it’ll be quite the scene," Xu Fan remarked.
Just then, Han Feiyu walked over, looking down.
"Master Ancestor, I lost," Han Feiyu said, ashamed.
"Others pick their fights; you went straight for the strongest guardian true immortal, who counters your shadow technique. Who else would lose?" Xu Fan teased, smiling at his disciple.
Han Feiyu looked helpless; he thought with his celestial tool and peak talent, beating the guardian would be easy. So he picked one at random and went in.
But as the fight started, he realized something was wrong; his sword formation was powerful, but he couldn’t find the enemy.
Stuck in a passive state, he ended up with a knife at his neck, forced to concede.
