Even more novels have now chosen to leave Gravity, and the rumors are getting more and more blown out of proportion. The worst thing about the whole ordeal is that no one is saying clearly what is going on and why they are leaving. I guess it's up to them to choose what they want to share with their readers, but I believe in honesty. You guys are the ones supporting our writing/translating, and I think you deserve to know what is going on.
Why is it so hard to just speak the truth? Is it for the sake of avoiding controversy? To avoid having people look at you in a negative way? Perhaps, to protect the reputation of someone else?
Everyone would just gloss it over, avoid it all together, pretend like nothing happened and hope the fuss would die down soon.
But isn't this lack of information hurting everyone instead? When no one is talking then it sparks the imagination of others and forces them to come up with their own theories of what is going on, most of which impact negatively everyone involved.
I can't speak for the translators that are leaving Gravity. I don't know them personally, I haven't talked to them about it, and I am not a type of person that believes in rumors. So, I have no idea about the circumstances of their departure.
However, it is my personal belief that people are leaving either because they believe Gravity is a sinking ship and they would feel safer on another site or because they think it would be more profitable to move to another site. Especially if that site is Wuxia World which is a giant with a huge readership that surpasses the monthly views of Gravity.
That's all logical and we shouldn't judge anyone. Everyone is looking for a better future for themselves, and there is no reason for them to gamble on the uncertain or sacrifice their own being for someone else they barely know. Hell, if I suddenly got an invite to move to Wuxia World, I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be tempted.
As for the rumors going around saying that Gravity is doing some drastic internal changes. If this is correct then I have no idea what those changes are. Because as far as I know, the proposed changes are a step towards a good direction and wouldn't impact the author's/translators in a negative way. And besides, GGP is a flexible and approachable person and he has offered everyone a chance to resume things the way they were up to now. So I don't see why people would be leaving because of the internal changes. The changes weren't even proposed until a bunch of novels left Gravity, so the first to leave had different reasons for leaving.
Perhaps I am not well informed on the internal changes. Perhaps I am a naive person that has no idea what is going on. All I can do is trust in what my heart tells me and follow my own sense of right and wrong.
I don't know what the future holds, perhaps Gravity will one day shut down. But until then I will keep believing in the better future and supporting Gravity like Gravity has supported and believed in me.
I believe in Gravity and I believe in the bright future.
