Future of Gravity Tales

By Goodguyperson

Dear Gravity Tales Fans,

Before anything else, I’d like to thank you for visiting Gravity Tales in the past two and a half years that Gravity Tales has been in existence. I really do appreciate your comments, encouragements, and thoughts. Although I might not have always replied, I and many others at Gravity Tales have read every single one of your comments. In addition, here, I would like to take this chance and sincerely thank all translators and editors for their wonderful work at Gravity Tales. Gravity Tales has never been a one-man show, it has always been the product of tens of thousands of people, people like you, who visit us each and every day.

When I first established Gravity Tales, it was meant to be a website, by fans, for fans. Nothing fancy, it was just my desire to share what I read, Zhan Long, to everyone around me and more. Over these past two and a half years, Gravity Tales has experienced growth that I can only describe as incredible. In return, I’ve poured nearly everything I had into Gravity Tales. There have been ups, downs, laughter, tears and just about everything in between. I honestly enjoyed all of the work that I’ve done and I’m proud to stand behind the fact that Gravity Tales has created nearly ten thousand chapters of translations. However, I’ll be frank here. Gravity Tales is in a bad spot right now. And honestly, I wish that it weren’t so.

Recently, as all of you have seen, some abnormal things have happened to Gravity Tales---a few novels have left our website. Definitely an unpleasant surprise. I believe that normal friendly competition is a good thing, which will mean more chapters at a higher quality for readers. Sadly, a lot of misinformation had been spread and these rumors seemed to have gained a lot of credibility within just a few days. For those that think that some kind of inside deal had been reached, nothing of the sort has happened. Although I would like to peacefully resolve everything, things just seem to head in the opposite direction.

I’ve always been a huge proponent for translator rights, defending them every turn of the way because everyone in Gravity Tales and many others in the community are just like you guys; we’re all fans of these novels and wanted to share these novels with everyone. I personally can proudly say that I’m not solely in this for money. Although along the way, this goal of sharing the novels has wavered, been tested (like right now), tempered and belittled, sharing novels with others has been and always will be the vision of Gravity Tales.

Moving forward, I would like to hope all translators that have left Gravity Tales find success and extend an invitation to all translators who share in Gravity Tales’ vision to come join us. Although we are hitting a rough patch, I think that with the community together, we can overcome this together. As readers, your best form of support would be to simply visit Gravity Tales. We’ll also be putting up something of a Patreon for Gravity Tales later to make ends meet but a donation is strictly voluntary.

Gravity Tales has and will be, by fans and for fans and as long as even one person enjoys coming to Gravity Tales, I will keep translating and fighting.

Thank you for the past two and a half years,

GGP

PS: Writing this was the single hardest thing that I have ever done for Gravity Tales. I started drafts for this when Martial World left but wasn’t able to finish until today. Part of it is because of the constant new developments which called for new versions and part of it were my emotions, I thought I could stay strong but I broke down half way through. Thank you for reading through all of this and I really do appreciate your support until now. Also, I apologize for any poor writing or mistakes in this, simply working on it has been quite hard.

tl;dr: Gravity Tales has hit a rough patch but will continue to be around and fighting.
